Local Tour Providers

This will be our first cruise from Hawaii on Celebrity Eclipse.   We are very comfortable with getting off the ship and finding local tour guides in the Caribbean.  Is it best to plan ahead on the Hawaiian ports of call, or will we find locals as we get to the islands?  Any recommendations of locals you have used

 will be appreciated!!

I think its best to plan ahead and DIY, but that is also how we prefer to travel. At our own pace, on our own schedule, and seeing the things (or doing the things) that interest us. We are not large tour group people. Planning ahead alos means you can read reviews and get help/advice from others to make sure the tour/excursion you select (if doing one) is safe, has experienced staff, etc.

At least on Maui you should make reservations ahead of time whenever possible, as tours and activities are often booked if you wait until the last minute.  We agree that doing it yourself and being prepared on what you want to do is a very good idea.  It will also help you maximize your time here.  Do note that Celebrity tenders off of Lahaina Harbor when you are arranging a starting point for your excursions (read: and does not dock in Kahului Harbor).

This also isn't the Caribbean-- tour operators don't line up and hawk their services pier side or where the tenders land. Most of Hawaii has a higher cost of living than a lot of places back on the US mainland and prices for tours and services reflect that and do require booking in advance.

we have always had good experiences with Island Marketings tours, small tours with local guides, usually about 4 -6 of us tour. we have found tours with them for Cozumel, Grand Cayman, Roatan and Hawaii. for Hawaii they are hawaiicruiseexcursions.com We took their volcano and swim tour, which no one else was offering, and loved it ❤️
