I can't remember if there is any shopping, restaurants, etc. near the dock? What are you looking for? As you are aware there are Duty Free shops, stalls, postoffice etc in the covered terminal area. Outside Port "shopping" there are many stores selling clothing, handbags jewellery etc, in various small Malls but only safely reachable by taxi. There are Restaurants reachable on foot by the majority of better places are a taxi ride. Decide what you are looking for, select your Malls of interest and grab taxis. PORT ROYAL Posted January 29, 2020 #4 Share Posted January 29, 2020 Information for CC readers. Don't forget Bars Restaurants in Barbados are legally bound by their licence to charge local tax and their equivalent of UK VAT tax at 17.5% . In addition the land tax is 1% based of the Government valuation. If you do not pay there is a 5% penalty. Also there could be hidden service fee of 10%. So all vendors have a short period to cover all the Government taxes, then make a living. This is why some cruisers complain about Barbados non Duty Free prices. For interest, Bajans go to Jamacia etc for a vacation as it is half the price of a staycation

No need to exit the port gates. However, outside the dock gates, after the roundabout, to the left, opposite the sea, there is a complex of stores (looking like the backs of houses, also selling handicrafts etc., but you’ll have to be prepared to run the gauntlet of the mass of taxi drivers trying to make a fare, in order to feed their family. They can be persistent.

Helpful photos…. Well played. Forgot to mention…. There is a small Official Barbados Post Office which will stamp postcards, letters and very small parcels. Shops in the Cruise Terminal sell decent postcards and don’t forget to bring one’s pen Yes postcards….
