BaltimoreCruise Posted February 5, 2020 #1 Share Posted February 5, 2020 Has anyone recently attended the Aficionado Dinner on the Nieuw Statendam? We sail in less than two weeks and the dinner just came to my attention. I could not find detail on the HAL site. Would love to hear your experiences. Thank you. Alberta Quilter Posted February 5, 2020 #3 Share Posted February 5, 2020 (edited) Check out this thread from last year: I posted the menu and some pics from our dinner with Rudi Sodamin in there. Well, it's not like we ate WITH him, he was there at the beginning and at the end 'cause he was in the kitchen the rest of the time! As for finding it on the HAL website, I found it under Specialty Dining: Edited February 5, 2020 by Alberta Quilter
Queen of DaNile Posted February 5, 2020 #4 Share Posted February 5, 2020 Is this only on selected sailings? Don't see it under Specialties for April 9, 2020.
Alberta Quilter Posted February 5, 2020 #5 Share Posted February 5, 2020 Probably only for selected sailings. The Culinary Council members would have to be cruising all the time, otherwise. Baltimore Cruise and I happen to be on the same sailing.

Wouldn't be interested in paying that premium price for an underwhelming chef.

We got an email in advance of the cruise and called in to book it. It was on the second week of a B2B for us and two other couples. All six of us got a refund of our pre-payment after the first segment. It turned out that they refunded our "unused" dinner so we had to quickly rebook onboard. I'm glad they changed to the online booking to alleviate that issue.

Does anyone know if they still have a Chefs Table dinner with wine pairings?
