bgetter Posted February 9, 2020 #1 Share Posted February 9, 2020 Is there a place to jog at all on the Wind Star? I can not find pictures of the gym to see if there is a treadmill. Thanks
msears101 Posted February 9, 2020 #2 Share Posted February 9, 2020 There is a treadmill. There is no other place to run on the ship. There is no jogging track.
Chipshot from Michigan Posted February 9, 2020 #3 Share Posted February 9, 2020 Find out if you can beforehand if it is working. Only one of the treadmills on the Wind Surf was in December, and there's no one on board to fix them.
ridethetide Posted February 9, 2020 #4 Share Posted February 9, 2020 (edited) The Star Legend had three treadmills, a couple of stationary bicycles, a rowing machine, free weights and weight machines.. O2B@Cagain Posted February 9, 2020 #6 Share Posted February 9, 2020 From looking at the deck plans, the fitness room on the Wind Star (you were talking about the ship, not the line, correct?) is much smaller than those on the Star ships. And on the Star ships, the treadmills are placed across the beam- toward starboard/port, rather than fore and aft. That makes some pretty wild motion on the open seas, when you are crossways to the motion of the boat. If any of that makes any sense. I found it very difficult to run... Yes, the ship the Wind Star... little concerned about 14 days at sea all that great food, and not way to exercise. Thanks

Thanks are you doing a crossing? If not, many ports have amazing running - just disembark and off you go. Almost always along the shore or through the town.

new_cruiser Posted February 9, 2020 #12 Share Posted February 9, 2020 I ran on Wind Star. There are at least 2 treadmills. The fitness room was pretty quiet. I liked that the treadmills face the side of the ship. I saw dolphins out the porthole while running.
ridethetide Posted February 10, 2020 #13 Share Posted February 10, 2020 I eat more than I normally do and run on the treadmills daily and have never gained any weight on WS cruises.
O2B@Cagain Posted February 10, 2020 #14 Share Posted February 10, 2020 bgetter: The food in general is not like on a mass market ship. There is a buffet for breakfast and lunch, but also a menu of specials. Salad items and fruits are available. There isn't an all-day trough. The portions are smaller than most Americans seem to prefer. If you are into portion control, it's easy to dine well without overeating.
Pudgesmom Posted February 14, 2020 #15 Share Posted February 14, 2020 If you’re tall, you may not be able to use the treadmill on the Windstar. My 6’ husband couldn’t use it due to the ceiling height.

I wonder what the ceiling height difference is on the triplets.
Pudgesmom Posted February 26, 2020 #17 Share Posted February 26, 2020 The Windsurf, as you know, has the big beautiful gym on the top floor. The Windstar has a converted stateroom for a gym, thus the low ceiling height.

ETCruisers Posted March 1, 2020 #19 Share Posted March 1, 2020 Can you share the ship and dates of your cruise? My wife and I run and we found a few routes on the islands we visit.
O2B@Cagain Posted March 1, 2020 #20 Share Posted March 1, 2020 I think the OP's issue was being on a transatlantic. 😂
