Is there an ATM on the Star Princess and what is the fee?

I have used it in the past, and on all other Princess ships I have been on. Usually between pursers area and the casino. Fee was a bit on the higher side, but not robbery bad. I want to say $2.50 to $3.00.

ATM in casino on Royal (two weeks ago) and fee was $8.50 in addition to any fee charged by your bank!  Other option was to use Debit/Credit card to request cash advance from casino with even higher fees!

I agree that this is the current fee that Princess charges for using their ATMs.

Note that this gets you money in the currency of the ship, US $ most of the time, but Australia $ if the ship is based in Australia.

Just a bit of clarification. Previously the ATMs on board were provided by BB&T bank out of Miami (and BTW which is now Truist bank after merging with SunTrust). The ATMs in use now are provided by Brightwell which is partnered with Travelex. The fees are not set by Princess.

The fee is $8.50 per transaction plus whatever your bank charges for out of network transactions.

This is probably more info than you really wanted to know!! 😏

I am curious why you need access to an ATM as incidental items are charged to the credit card that you register for use with the cruise.

You will find that there are Cash Machines in ports and that some vendors take credit cards.

You could also take cash on board with you and leave it in the stateroom safe until you need it.

Depending on the port vendors may prefer as cash USD or Euros.

And there ATM’s will give our cash in the local currency rather than USD

We bring cash for extra tips and in case there is a purchase that we really want to make where they do not accept credit cards. We keep the cash in the stateroom safe.    For the most part we do not use ATMs, even at home.  We carry some cash but never use it as credit cards work so well for us.

I use ATM's on the ship if I want more cash for any reason.  It's a personal preference for sure, but to me feels much safer than carrying lots of cash for the pre-cruise days.   It is well worth the $8.50 fee to me to not have to worry about it while traveling.  Also, many banks reimburse ATM fees up to a certain amount.

My wife and I like to gamble. I didn't want carry a lot of  cash. Thanks for all the advice. I wasn't aware that we could charge gambling to our onboard account. I just recently became aware of this from another thread.
