Do The Right Thing

Check out the Crystal board topic "Crystal and the Coronavirus." Some frustrated passengers on both Crystal and HAL posting tonight about their refund policies and not canceling Asian sailings. I'm glad that so far, Celebrity is doing the right thing and hope they keep it up!

Also, some nice comments on how well Celebrity handled issues in the past.

My family and I were booked on Celebrity Millenium, March 14, 2020, initially departing from Hong Kong then, from Tokyo.

When the coronavirus began to spread in January, then the news about the Diamond Princes and the Westerdam, it definitely created a more stressful context for us. Our cruise was initially re-routed then cancelled.

During the process, I contacted Celebrity representatives 3 or 4 times, to assess our status and change our flights. The representatives were all kind, patient, very helpful and  understanding.

And our outcome will be a full refund for the cruise and airfare as well as a 25% future cruise credit.

The situation involving the coronavirus is very sad for people in affected countries, especially China. It is definitely challenging for their touristic sector.

We are very pleased with the decisions made by Celebrity to ensure our safety and the safety of the crew. We are also very satisfied with the compensation package issued by Celebrity.

We will definitely remain loyal customers!

Indeed glad for you. Some of us on the Constellation are having a tough time rerouting to Dubai without breaking the bank. It's costing me much more than the compensation offered. But I'm glad they have been proactive with us.

Thank you for the positive Celebrity post @flowery

I honestly don't know how I would handle the stress, especially if we were some of those pore souls stuck on a ship. We work from home and being delayed like that would be a huge financial hit. Yes, we get insurance, but it won't cover lost income.
My wife runs a in-home daycare, I am almost positive the chances are high of losing some families due to the uncertainty of when we will get back. And I can't blame them.

We have had two Celebrity cruises cancelled and one on Royal Caribbean.  All three times we were very pleased with the benefits  and/or transfer options.  I am reading on the NCL thread that they have really screwed up the way they handled their Asian cruises.

We learned what river cruises to avoid when the flooding in Central Europe resulted in cancelled cruises or some lines just turning the cruise into a bus tour.
