Redgin Posted February 19, 2020 #1 Share Posted February 19, 2020 Hi folks, Have any of you been on the white pass legacy club luxury railway experience from Celebrity? It seems a little expensive at 383.00. Just wondering if it is worth it? What other excursions on the Celebrity Solstice might you recommend? Thanks. CruisingAlong4Now Posted February 19, 2020 #2 Share Posted February 19, 2020 Post on the Alaska board. You'll get more eye traffic. The excursion isn't really related to luxury travel. It's just in the name of the excursion. Carnival sells the same excursion. Actually, you'll find that almost all the cruise lines sell the same third party excursions. crystalspin Posted February 21, 2020 #3 Share Posted February 21, 2020 I believe that the luxury car AND the steam railroad, do the run that goes up and back and no photo-ops other than from the train. No need for passport, though, because you do not disembark the train. Although the luxury car seems to run twice a day, HAL and Princess, for two, only offer a morning excursion. Lot of good an open bar is when the trip is over by 11am! You might look into booking with the White Pass Summit Rail for the later trip, if your port-times permit. Having done an up-and-back (non-luxury) rail-trip, and a train up-bus back excursion -- the one-way train, one-way bus was quite a bit better! For the upcoming cruise, I'm considering bus-up/train-back, just to mix it up.
zqvol Posted February 21, 2020 #4 Share Posted February 21, 2020 IMO it is not worth the extra cost. You can book the train on your own for a round trip journey. The scenery is the same in every car.
Rare Jim_Iain Posted February 22, 2020 #5 Share Posted February 22, 2020 IMO it isn't worth it. I was recently visiting with a party of 4. We rented a car for $80 and drove over to the Yukon and Caraboo Crossing. They highway runs alongside the rail line and has numerous scenic turn offs and photo spots.
