If you wanted to smoke, you had to leave the property. Some locations it was brutal. It was the best thing to happen to me. I thought it was a little draconian myself. I understood no smoking in the workplace, I understood having a separate area for those who smoked during their breaks. I never condoned making people go outside in the cold, in the rain, in the snow without some kind of shelter being provided. But,,, since I also quit, I'm not that concerned anymore. I still like hanging with the smokers though. Maybe the next move should be making those with a BMI above 20, can't eat at their desk or in the cafeteria and only sugar free drinks available, and they can only eat outside. 😨

If you are a bit over weight, you eat at your desk or the cafeteria, and you drink sugary soda....that does not bother me. It is your choice, your health decision ....and does not hurt my health. If you smoke right next to me...yeah...I have a problem here.

It was about the $. Statistically, it cost more to care for smokers. At work, productivity was lower in most smokers (going outside to smoke every hour or so). Smokers in general, missed more days at work. It’s all about the dollars.
