Looks fun - We had a great cruise that year from Barcelona to Dubai with good ports everywhere else but didn't like Safaga at all, Luxor was the obvious choice of many but we had been already. The highlight of the cruise was visiting Petra.

St Petersburg

On the above photo it was a public holiday to celebrate the 300th anniversary of the founding of the city. Our excursion to see the Hermitage was compromised by them offering free entry for the first time in history so thousands of locals took the opportunity to go inside and it was heaving.

We only had a single tour guide for around 30 of us so I offered to help out and "bring up the rear" of the group which proved more difficult than I expected as quite a few of them kept just wandering off. Most of the group were Americans and one couple in particular seemed to have no concept of staying with the group and not getting lost. Anyway it worked out in the end and we all eventually got safely back on the coach to the ship. I got a round of applause for my efforts and one guy said he was going to buy me some beers back onboard but we never saw him again!

On the below photo that's my arm waving the NCL excursion board.

We enjoyed Santander, visiting the Palace and seeing the seals on a beautiful day in a very picturesque setting is one of our nicest memories of cruising.

Sounds great.

If we are not on a tour Pauline heads straight to the shops.
