One receives the flu vaccine, but, if the strain one encounters differs from what was in your vaccine, one still could experience the symptoms of the flu. Short answer, no. Flu is very unique and different.

Not really worth speculating at this point. Flu is very unique in it's VERY fast antigenic drift as well as the unique system of antigenic shift where you get major changes in the surface receptors, as well as with frequent zoonotic pandemic strains coming out from birds and livestock. Do coronaviridae have antigenic drift like influenza, or no drift like measles? It's kind of too early to tell. It looks like there may be drift, but dunno how significant it is. Doesn't have the same antigenic shift properties that influenza has though, so cross reactivity in vaccines may be more effective than in influenza vaccine (which does have some cross reactivity effect for drift). Coronaviridae usually recirculate every ~3 years, so it might be like flu where will need different shots, but the timing could be different. Or who knows how much cross reactivity there is, maybe even if there is antigenic drift, it will change effectiveness of vaccine from no sickness to mild sickness, and wont need to make different vaccines. it is basically not enough data at this point to even bother speculating right now. at least the worst case scenario is that we can probably make new vaccines for different strains in the future, but we don't know how necessary it will be.
