Drink Packages

Received an email about booking your next cruise and getting the drink package.  My TA booked a cruise for Oct. 2022 and was told that the drink package was not included.  I looked at the email to see if it was just for cruises for 2021 and didn't see anything.  Anyone else have a problem with drink packages?

When I clicked on my email there were zero cruises that met my criteria. So very frustrating!!

These offers are limited and targeted.  However, the more people who take the offers, the more Carnival will offer them.

Does any one know if you can book more than one cruise with the free cheers for you deal.  Also do you pay the gratuity with the free deal?   Thanks

The gratuity is included.  It's one cruise pp.  But, if you and your cruise partner each get the targeted promotion in your inbox, you can each take advantage and be able to utilize it twice.  The RU1, RU2 and RU3 codes are the better ones to receive.  RU9 is for ocean view and higher cabins only and is really not a deal.

It's only good for 2 adults per cabin.  Maybe you were trying with 3 or 4 with kids and that is why you came up empty.

The offer is only good on cruises through May 2022.

Is there really a cost savings ? I see when doing a booking that you are paying for Cheers up front as the booking cost per cabin is higher.  Is the saving worth it over a booking then buys cheers as an add on.

If you got RU9, no, it's a joke.  If you got RU1, RU2 or RU3, then more than likely you will save money.  Some only paid 5 bucks a day extra with the RU1.

They keep sending me RU9 emails.  I wish they would STOP.

The only Deals i ever use are the Casino ones that i get better pricing on the cabin. just booked with that one and it came with free drinks while playing in the casino. I don't want to communicate with anyone off the ship while i am cruising so NO WIFI for me. wink

When I take a mock booking through (but stopping before payment) I can compare all the various offers. For the heck of it I tried one for May 14 Southern Carib from Miami where I can see 9 different offers for  my.  The best rate was with OWV (Plan Now Pay Later) and the 'free cheers' code RU2 was about $28/day more per person. (I accounted for the on-board spend in OWV in the pricing)

Oddly my Casino bonus code OTQ was no better than OWV - just a lower  deposit and a room location upgrade so apparently I need to up my Casino play (-;

I received an RU9 offer a couple of months ago. Looked at some sample cruises to see the difference in price and on average it upped the price for said cabin on average about 550 per person for a 7 night cruise. A savings of about 200 per person when including gratuities. That's not much of a "free deal".

However my wife received an RU1 offer. That cost us about 100 extra per person for the cabin. Not exactly free either, but worth every penny regardless.

We booked Mardi Gras for October.  With money used from a canceled cruise back in May, the $600 cabin credit offered for rebooking, the "free" RU1 drink package along with airfare credit from the previous canceled cruise and  3 free nights we've earned from hotels.com, it feels like a totally free cruise vacation with all the booze and excursions included.

My offer is RU1 and added $70 per person on a 7-day cruise (newer ship). Downside, we are looking at a Jan/Feb 2023 cruise and it's only good for cruises July 2021-May 2022.

The promotion is to spur bookings within the first year of cruises coming back.  Cheers for only 10 bucks per day would entice me to hook a cruise just to take advantage of it, but I was outside of the targeted rifle audience that the promotional bean counters are going after.

But, on a positive note, I did make it for their WiFi promotion, which does me no good since I unplug while on vacation.  Similar to a teetotaler getting the Cheers promo.

Oh it enticed me alright, but I was hoping we'd be able to cruise with others and none of them are interested in an early 2022 cruise. I can't blame them, I was thinking further out as well, but Carnival's trick worked and I was willing (possibly) to book. I even put it on the free 4 day hold while I wold others to check their offers and let's possibly do the 2022.

And my wi-fi package offer is about 1.5x more than the drinks package lol! No thanks! Like you, I like the unplugged feeling. So, unless I need to work, I bypass the internet package.

$500. The cost of the drink package for two is probably of more value over the length of the cruise. But not being a heavy drinker and long port days, for me it is better to get the $500 OBC and purchase out of pocket ( and apply OBC ).

How did you get 500 in OBC from Carnival?
