skleeb Posted April 22, 2021 #1 Share Posted April 22, 2021 I just looked at my confirmation page and it appears that I have $1,000(!) OBC. Maybe it is because two cruises have been cancelled-I don't know. This is my first one with Ss, a 13-day transatlantic in November '21 on the Dawn, with only 2 ports. What can I 'spend' my credit on? Solo traveller here, so not sure if I need the romantic specialty dining. Can I use it for a deposit on another cruise? Help! What would you do with it? Thanks!! No, that is about the only thing you cannot use the OBC for. 15 minutes ago, skleeb said: Help! Romantic specialty dining fee. 😉 An extra special bottle of wine from the Connoisseur List. skleeb Posted April 22, 2021 Author #3 Share Posted April 22, 2021 OOHHH, the spa, great idea! And tomorrow the excursions open up, so I check them out. Wine is a good idea, too!
Rare Lois R Posted April 22, 2021 #4 Share Posted April 22, 2021 I sail solo as well and yes, all the things mentioned and remember, they have a few shops on board. You could look at clothing and/or jewelry too🙂oh, I dine in the specialty restaurants and have always loved them.....not all them are "romantic". And in my opinion, that does not matter...La Dame is wonderful and I would recommend it.......yes, it has a lovely ambiance. The wait staff is fabulous and are always accommodating. And another thing, it is quite easy to meet other folks and you never know, you might end up going with others to the pay restaurants as well. Hope you have a fantastic cruise😃

Rare Lois R Posted April 22, 2021 #6 Share Posted April 22, 2021 I haven't sailed on the new ships.....not sure if they have a casino or not. You could look on the website and click on the deck plans. If it has one, it will probably be on there.
Pendle Witch Posted April 23, 2021 #7 Share Posted April 23, 2021 Hi Skleeb, we have the same amount...yeaaa. I was under the impression that excursions booked with on board credit could only be done on board, and not pre cruise. Perhaps someone can confirm this. eastwoodboy Posted April 23, 2021 #8 Share Posted April 23, 2021 There is a casino on Dawn but OBC is not accepted there. We have always booked any trips prior to boarding and they always appear on the account at the end of the voyage when the credit is applied. Rare WesW Posted April 23, 2021 #9 Share Posted April 23, 2021 Received $1000 OBC for the Athens to Dubai voyage this November on the Silver Moon. Will used most of this for wine off the connoisseur list. Also, you can use OBC for Laundry/dry cleaning if you have not cruised 100 days on Silversea. If your suite attendant or other crewmember has gone above and beyond for you, u may want to get a SS gift (candy, baseball cap) at the gift shop. We have only sailed Silversea once before and we booked trips pre cruise, but couldn’t remember when the money was taken. thankyou.
mrscrab Posted April 23, 2021 #11 Share Posted April 23, 2021 The one thing you cannot do with your OBC is donate it to the crew welfare fund. SS does not allow this and are very firm about it.

Perhaps someone can confirm this. Since most excursions are paid for on board, it doesn’t matter when they were booked, hence why the OBC can be used to pay for them. With that said, I don’t believe one can use OBC to pay for a mid-voyage overnight land tour booked prior to the voyage. Those are the only excursions where we have been charged in advance of our cruise and as such, those charges appeared on our final pre-cruise invoice as paid in full.
Rare Lois R Posted April 23, 2021 #13 Share Posted April 23, 2021 I have an obc for my cruise in October (hoping it sails) and I just reserved quite a few excursions for that trip. Once the credit is on the account, they will all be paid for👍

Rare spinnaker2 Posted April 24, 2021 #16 Share Posted April 24, 2021 Crew fund is extremely worthwhile contribution a pax can make out of their own pocket for the benefit of thr crew. Onboard credit is for the benefit of the pax.
Reef Knot Posted April 24, 2021 #17 Share Posted April 24, 2021 Jumping on this board, I have a $1000 obc through an early booking offer. If I cancel this booking and book another cruise which would be more likely to sail would Silversea move the obc to the new cruise? I have asked my agent to look into it but just wondering if anyone has had experience of this.

You could get lucky especially in these times.
Rare Lois R Posted April 24, 2021 #19 Share Posted April 24, 2021 I would think if you think the cruise will not sail? Let SS cancel and then you will probably be able to keep that obc (rather than you cancelling). If that makes sense........I could be wrong, but that is what I would ask your agent. Fair point, I was looking to take advantage of the 10% early booking pay in full offer but this does seem to be running continuously from month to month.
