Fully booked cruises Fall/Winter 2021

Recommended Posts

Do any of you know how Royal will decide who gets bumped from cruises this fall/winter if the CDC requires reduced capacity? I would assume at least some of the cruises are 80-100% booked now, and if the CDC only allows ships to sail with 50% capacity, how do they decide who gets the boot? I wonder if it will be like what airlines do in an oversold situation- if you volunteer to take a later cruise, we will give you a voucher for $X...  Any ideas?

Thanks!!

Interesting question......my crystal ball says that the first guests that would get 'rescheduled' would be non-revenue generating guests such as casino perks (free or deeply discounted casino trips), 'free' status cruisers (cruises for making C&A levels), and other cruise guests that have large discounts on their cruises (I have had one of these, wish I did).  Next would be inside cabins as they generate a lower fare and they may need those cabins if a quarantine situation arises.  I think the very last to be rescheduled would be the balconies and suites.  These bring in higher revenue and they offer guests access to outside air in case of a COVID breakout.

Now if my crystal ball would just give me the lottery numbers!

Very likely very few, incentives will move folks.

I agree since everyone whose booked really wants to get out to sea. Just my guess and pure speculation is that Royal may ask for volunteers first with some incentives and then after that they may have to use a lottery drawing situation. I really have no idea, but since my November sailing was a L&S from last October of 2020, I like to think those who booked the farthest out would get some sort of priority.

The airlines have figured this out, I'm sure the cruise lines will as well.  Besides, do you seriously think there are not local retirees who would not gladly be bumped for the right price?

I hope that isn't a consideration, this is my fourth booking from the first cruise week that was cancelled last year (which was booked in June of 2019) but no where on my reservation does it say this is a replacement cruise for our March 2020 original.
