Carnival 2 Letter Ship Codes

With all the talk of Mardi Gras, I noticed people refer to Mardi Gras as MG. I was just curious what the 2 letter ship code would be for Mardi Gras so I looked it up on Carnival's website and I am suprised to see that it isn't MG. It is MD. 

 

Just passing along a little geeky info for those that like to nerd out on trivia like I do.

Dear Husband, Wife, Son, Daughter, etc. SIL=Son-in-law.

Yeah, people always used to ask what the code was when it was needed to email the Maitre'D on the various ships.

Voyage numbers are equally code-y

- they involve the above-mentioned 2-letter ship codes

and the embarkation date!

 

Here are a few of mine:

DE20070430004, VI20081102003, GL20111015007

VA20130619007, LI20150329003.

 

DE = Destiny ... VI = Victory ... GL = Glory ... VA = Valor ... LI = Liberty

The numerals signify embarkation dates, plus the number of nights-on-board!

 

Now you know what ships -and dates- I've sailed on!

I would suppose the use of MD is to differentiate from the original Mardi Gras, which would be MG.

 

Carnival Celebration is CB, and the original Celebration is CE:
