In a cabin with your kids, do you...

Okay, okay, I'll admit it...we did the "bathroom" thing at a hotel in Vegas this past summer. Kids were asleep in the room, things started getting...um...heated up, so we quickly retreated to the bathroom. Thank GOD one of the kids didn't have to pee in the middle of the night!

 

I don't think that bathroom counter will ever be the same...

 

Oh, by the way, if anyone really wants to go back to the times when families all lived in one room...do we also want to go back to digging roots and eating grubs, and selling our daughters to the person with the most sheep to give us? Me, I think I'll keep driving my car, buying my meat in clear shrink-wrap, and locking the door to my bedroom when I feel amorous, thankyewverymuch.

My kids are 18 & up now so I don't worry. But as far as with the kids in the room, I don't think anyone is talking about hanging from the chandelier sex here. There's a curtain, if you use it every night (even when you don't do the big nasty) then those night you come back from a romantic evening and ARE DISCREET, I don't think anything bad will be discovered.

After that, pick an afternoon, put the kids in AO and like they say... if this ship is rockin'.....

thinking about a cruise bathroom reminds me of that Geico commercial about the reality TV show that they live in an extra small house and the bed is like 3 feet long and the ceiling is 4 feet high, haha!

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

By the way I've enjoyed this thread...reminds me of some of our tent camping experiences. I won't give away too many details but let's just say that my DD (almost 12) now sleeps in a separate tent, though it is right next to ours.

 

I really think you all were too hard on mrstrod. She wasn't saying she thought it was acceptable to put on a show for the kids. In fact she said just the opposite that she wouldn't want her kids to see the whole "kit and kaboodle." I think her point was if you are in a healthy marriage, then the fact that you have an intimate physical relationship should not be something that is secretive. To imply that she wanted to participate in an orgy and some of the other negative things which were thus construed from her post wasn't really appropriate. JMHO.

i agree with what you said as well as mrstrod about how sex has to be a part of a healthy marriage, and if i have kids one day, i will stress the importance of sex in a marriage. however, its one thing that your kids "know" you're having sex and another to "show" your kids you're having sex. :eek:

If you would take a look at the nasty reply i received from mrstrod you would understand the hostility. My reply to mrstrod was a joke just as this whole thread is kidding around, I agree with the fact that they should know about intamacy in a marriage. But I surely did not need a new a--hole ripped. Like I said they need to lighten up.

If we have an inside cabin on the Enchantment of the Seas for 4 do we automatically give up the chance to make the 2 twin beds into one king bed? Please do not suggest putting the kids in another room since we have already done that. We have 6 kids and 2 of them need to be with us since we are unable to book a 3rd room due to the fact that an adult has to be booked in each room. I have searched a looked at several pictures and it seems that in order to utilize the bunk beds, you need to leave the lower beds separate. I am not sure I like the idea of sleeping in separate beds and maybe we should upgrade to an oceanview with the sleeper sofa. After 20 yrs of marriage, I am not worried about the extra curricular activities taking place, where there is a will there is a way, but I would like to sleep ( yes really sleep, snoring and all) with my husband. Thanks in advance for all replys. Melissa

I think that the pullman comes down from the side wall, and the beds can be pushed together. Not sure, as I've only ever seen it in service in a balcony room.

Does anyone know if they offer roll away beds? I don't think at my kids size (5 of them are teenagers 19,18,15,13,13) that they would fit 2 to a bed in the quad room, nor will they tolerate sharing a bed. They can hardly sit next to one another in the car, much less share a bed LOL. We have a while to work this out. I was considering upgrading my room to an oceanview and have 4 of the kids in an inside cabin. When we sailed the Disney Wonder, they have a nice privacy curtain sleeping area for parents and bunks outside of that, one which turns into a couch during the day. Hubby won't go into the public hot tubs, since last time he got....uhhh.....well...it was OBVIOUS he was happy to see me, so now he is afraid that will keep happening. I am sure we will work it out, I just wondered if anyone had been in a quad room and knew the bed arrangements. Thanks again. This has been quite the entertaining thread by the way. Melissa

hey melissa, i am from a family of 6 kids and my parents wouldnt even think about sharing a room with us. if there were 4 twin beds, the two biggest ones would get their own beds and the other 4 would sleep head to foot. we had alot of fun, but that was because we got along well. for christmas a year ago my 22yo and 19yo bro's shared a twin bed and this was at home, just for the sole reason of us 3 being able to spend some time together in the same room (i had my own pull out bed!). there was an empty queen bed in the room next door. haha! this year was a little different since i was a newlywed! i took the queen bed...;)

 

edit: oh, there are 5 boys and 1 girl (who is the youngest)

The topic of this thread seems to be "sex in the cabin with kids along" and you're asking about bed configuration. I think you may get your answer more easily if you posted a seperate thread. These folks all have sex on the brain.

 

My DH and I have 6 grown daughters (3 each from our former marriage). Only one girl is left at home...a 20 year old who has cruised with us several times over the years. MY DH and I have discussed this topic often. I don't think anyone on this board (including myself) feels that their children should be kept from knowing that their parents love each other and expresses it often. After a certain age, children should know about sex and know that their parents express their love for each other by making love to each other - and that its a loving and beautiful thing. But, sex is also a private thing between two people. You wouldn't allow your child to watch porn...why would you even consider subjecting your child to your private sexual activities? Even if you think they can't see anything (i.e the curtain or blankets).....who knows for sure what they can see or hear. Our 20 year old (teasingly) reminds us everytime we cruise with her "no sex when I'm in the stateroom....even if I can't see, I couldn't live with the visual" Yeah, I'm sure - we'll just wait till she's at the pool and put the "Do Not Disturb" sign on the door.

The quad room will be like bunk beds. The kids will each have a normal sized twin to themselves (if there are pullmans, sometimes I've seen the pullout sofa become a bed for two and the two twin beds as the other two berths) but the former scenario is the most usual. Even in the latter, the sofabed is the size of a queen. Put the two kids who hate each other least on that, if you don't have the pullman bunks. With the bunks, the kid who has the upper berth 'looses' their slot during the day and must share the lower kid's bunk to sit on.

 

In the case of you and your husband, you can have your beds pushed together to sleep with your husband, only the pullman bunk (again, if your cabin has these, and most do) will overhang half of the bed. Meaning, the person on the inside will have a bunk over their head, and the person on the outside will not. But the person on the outside will have the other bunk very close to his/her head when they get out of bed, if that makes any sense. Imagine two sets of bunk beds, only you pushed the lower bunks together while still leaving the top bunks 3-4 feet apart.

 

If your cabin doesn't have pullmans, you and your husband will have a bed together (and nothing overhead) and the remaining two kids will be on the pullout sofa, which fits two children easily.

Mom and dad were determined to have that girl, huh!! I have 2 sons, and want a daughter so bad, but am afraid I will wind up with 5 or 6 sons instead-I give up, at least I have a niece.:eek:

I am 35 and tempted to try one more time, but can't stand another penis in my house (peeing on my floor, eating all the food, being loud and leaving messes everywhere)-3 men is enough, I am already outnumbered and alone:eek: My younger son is only 16 months, so I start to consider one more try, then I become afraid and go shopping for myself instead.:D

But having a daughter to shop for and dress up would be so much fun-I am such a "girly-girl" stuck in a house full of sticky boys!!
