Rare KKB Posted June 10, 2021 #1 Share Posted June 10, 2021 We get a 20% (ish) discount on NCL due to being Diamond with Caesars. Can we use Cruise next certificates in ADDITION to this discount?

mininewman Posted June 10, 2021 #3 Share Posted June 10, 2021 Yep. I've even used a cruise next to pay for the gratuities/fees on "free" cruises from casino rewards before.

And if you have cruises and gambled on NCL before (I.e., you have cruise next certificates), you may get a better deal calling CAS directly and see what they have to offer. If you are a diamond member, the cruise line is like total rewards, they will comp a room with a modest level of play.
Rare KKB Posted June 12, 2021 Author #6 Share Posted June 12, 2021 We have only done 1 NCL cruise--poker cruise Dec. 2019. Unfortunately the casino on the Getaway is SO smokey that we rarely played machines. Our poker tourney was in a separate room so that wasn't an issue. There are video poker machines at the casino bar in the non-smoking area, but as you can imagine, it is difficult to get a spot there. So our play was nearly non-existent on that cruise. BUT as a diamond CET members, I was able to get 20% (ish--it's a bit less) off both our rooms on 10 day Med cruise for 2023. I just put DH & I in separate rooms (our adult children are sailing with us) & then got the discount on both rooms. It saved us several thousand dollars! I am going to add 2 CruiseNext certificates to each room this month on the promo.

Do a bit of gambling and every cruise in the future will be comped.

The newer ships (Encore, Bliss & Joy) have a separate enclosed area for smokers. It is a vast improvement in air quality for the remaining 2/3 (or so) of the casino. Also, BirdTravels gives excellent advice above. If you gamble on the cruise, never hurts to call CAS directly to see if they can comp your next cruise. We started with the Caesars cruise certificates but now we get comps directly from Casinos at Sea. When you have returned from a cruise and have an idea of when & where you want to cruise next, give them a call. Most CAS agents are extremely friendly and will be happy to discuss your options. And, in keeping with this threads theme, we always apply two CN certificates to our comped cruises. We especially love it when we can also book during another special promo like pre-paid daily service charges or 'tax-free' (no gov/port fees.) Of course, it's now been a couple of years since they ran those extra special promos but I've still got three upcoming comped cruises with the pre-paid DSC😉 (Who needs 30% off on comped?)
TonyFred Posted June 13, 2021 #9 Share Posted June 13, 2021 Done this several times. Very nice way to pay for an upgrade too.
dbrown84 Posted June 14, 2021 #10 Share Posted June 14, 2021 as everyone has said, this is not a problem. You can also use cruise first certs, which are the certs you can by online rather than on the ship. And by using your Caesars discount, you get the free drink card to get drinks at the casino bar, including bottled water. For this reason, I decline the drink promo and save the cost of the gratuities
drvmywifecrzy Posted June 26, 2021 #11 Share Posted June 26, 2021 Just remember comped cruises are not 100% comped . You still pay $20/day admin fee , port taxes & fees, and grat on any "free" perks you select like dining and drink package. It still is a great deal but never close to free. Also you can gain status in CAS on board which gives you automatic OBC for that cruise and future cruises and if you ask near the end of the cruise how your play has been during the cruise they may comp you additional where you can go buy pictures or a watch or tshirts etc that CAS will comp for your play on board

There are different levels to each drink card. The "house drink card" is only for house drinks, like limited liquors and drinks, specialty coffee, bottled/boxed water and redbull. There are other levels on drink cards that depend on tier/play I think, I've only qualified for the house drinks one. I get the beverage package anyhow, because I don't want to be only getting drinks at casino bar...so I usually only use the casino card for specialty coffee, bottled/boxed water and redbull. I also believe that you get the house drink card even if you are only discounted and not fully comped.
