Anyone else finds "Price has changed!" obtuse and unhelpful?

Recommended Posts

Hey folks,

Sorry for pet-peeve here, but I find the "Price has changed!" message in cruise planner cart very unhelpful. Did the price increase? Did it drop? By how much? Is it a timed promotion? They could make it so much more helpful with some minor tweaks and yet I've seen it at least for the last 2 pre-covid years. Wonder if anyone knows of good channel to provide them with that "user experience" feedback?

Leaving it ambiguous will probably prompt some to buy it thinking the price went down. Unless you monitor the price daily you will never know because they never reveal the current on board pricing. My  my biggest pet-peeves with Royal are the fake discounts. I have seen drink packages advertised as a discount that were higher than I paid.

Oh this has been a practice the Big 3, partake on that's simply ludicrous they can get away with it and applies to fares too. I've seen "super sales" on fares that when you price it results in higher price than fare w/o said promotion.

Is that new? Did we not pay tax in the past?

I believe it was included when giving you a price on cruise planner items.

My Coco Cay Cabana was advertised at a certain price but then after purchasing it tax was added...Perhaps I'm wrong about old purchases.

In the past dining pkgs and individual reservations "included" the grats. Now it's a seperate item when you prepay. Recent change, I believe.

Added taxes seems odd

Yes that I knew about but I never paid attention to tax. Living in the highest taxed county on Long Island you just look past the tax and assume that it will be charged at some point. When I price a cruise I just calculate the cost of the room before tax and port charges.

I believe the Coco Cay purchases include Bahama's taxes now

Thanks...I just didn't believe the last time I purchased a cabana there was an added tax to the cost....or perhaps it was already included which is why I noticed it this time around.
