DimSum Posted August 2, 2021 #1 Share Posted August 2, 2021 I recently booked on the Seashore with the All In package which includes the wi-fi and drink package. I can't remember will I be charged for gratuities when I order my drinks on the ship? I can't recall how it was done on a MSC cruise. I think when I was on NCL I didn't have to pay gratuities...but can't remember. TIA
dexddd Posted August 2, 2021 #2 Share Posted August 2, 2021 When were you on NCL? It used to be no gratuities on the packages until FDR showed up around six years ago. Then NCL added the fees on 'free' drink and dining packages.
titangas Posted August 2, 2021 #3 Share Posted August 2, 2021 I think the OP is asking about paying gratuities “on the ship” when ordering a drink. Never to my knowledge has NCL done that with a drink package, you pay gratuities on the package when purchased. I am fairly certain with the MSC promo in the US that you are not paying for them as you buy. At least from the language on the contract of my Seashore cruise in December. Rare alyssamma Posted August 2, 2021 #4 Share Posted August 2, 2021 Correct, no (additional) gratuities paid. You "pay" them once in the fare of the package (or bundled into the fare of the cruise in this case).
phissy Posted August 2, 2021 #5 Share Posted August 2, 2021 How are drinks consumed in US Port handled . Are port taxes charged to passenger account?

If you have the drink package (bought outright, part or a promo, or because you are YC or Aurea), there are no additionally charges anywhere. I know on other lines if you are in a US port you get charged a tax, but I have never seen this done with MSC. Now, that being said, I have only sailed YC...but I have gotten drinks outside of the YC while in a US port, so it should work the same for non-YC guests.
phissy Posted August 2, 2021 #7 Share Posted August 2, 2021 Thank you for for responding. We have always been YC also. Previously, European cruises. This fall will be first US port MSC cruise.

When in the YC, there isn't even anything to sign...you just get a drink...so no way to charge anything to your room.
cellfree Posted August 2, 2021 #9 Share Posted August 2, 2021 We have never been in YC and have had the "all in" several times in the past from Port of Miami and have never paid anything extra regardless of location beverage is consumed. BTW the "all in" also works when at Ocean Cay.
deliver42 Posted August 3, 2021 #10 Share Posted August 3, 2021 No extra charges unless you want to tip the waiter or bar tender.
