maggietaggie Posted May 28 #376 Share Posted May 28 Has anyone done the cooking class at Roscioli? I have booked it and just curious if anyone has done this. It’s from 12-3 and we make three types of pasta, meatballs and a few other things. We will be doing it the end of June so just interested in any comments. Choozin Croozin Posted June 14 #381 Share Posted June 14 I do not want to do an organized food tour but would rather do one on our own on the day we land in Rome. This is a return trip for us and we saw a lot of the main sites the last time we were there but I didn't feel like we got to try the street foods. We did a food and wine pairing at Rosciolis and went to Emma, also hit the Rosciolis Bakery and the Gelato place that is almost right next door as we stayed at the Hotel Smeraldo. We are staying there again. I would love to try a Fried Artichoke, Trappazino (sp?), Porchetta, Suppli, some good tiramisu, maybe a good pizza and pasta place that isn't fancy to end the day. What else? What are the best places without having to walk for miles. Or any suggestions? Not looking for fancy just want to sample some good foods and beverages. Thank you in advance. Rare marazul Posted June 27 #383 Share Posted June 27 (edited) Seafood takeout by the Pantheon A new seafood take out shop will open just a few steps from the Pantheon. It is Street Fish, the new offering of the chef of the nearby seafood Trattoria La Rosetta. It will be offering seafood and fish sandwiches on "rosetta," a round roll for about €10. Street Fish will open July 3 and close August 11 for vacation (of course). It will reopen in September. It is not on Google maps yet, but from the description, I think it will be next to L'Antica Salumeria and across the piazza from the Albergo del Senato. Here is the article describing it: https://www.gamberorosso.it/notizie/notizie-ristoranti/street-food-pesce-pantheon-roma/ Edited June 27 by marazul 3
sushraya Posted August 27 #384 Share Posted August 27 We will be in Salerno on a Sunday. We are currently thinking of taking a ferry to either Amalfi or Positano. Can anyone recommend a good place for a Sunday brunch (or early lunch) in either Amalfi or Positano? Another option would be for us to come back and have lunch in Salerno - so if there any good recommendations for lunch in Salerno, that would work too. Some of the folks in our group are vegetarian (no meat, seafood) - a good place with pasta/pizza with buffalo mozzarella would work well!

I don't think you'd have much luck with finding one. Possibly a large hotel might offer an "American style" breakfast but I think that's usually only for their guests. In the same vein, you're unlikely to find good restaurants open before noon for lunch.
sushraya Posted September 6 #386 Share Posted September 6 @cruisemom42 - thanks. Do you know if shops are generally open in the area on a Sunday? In Amalfi or Positano?
euro cruiser Posted September 6 #387 Share Posted September 6 In season almost everything will be open in Amalfi and Positano. The places that would close would not be of interest to a tourist.
Rare desibee Posted September 9 #388 Share Posted September 9 (edited) Just want to throw a recommendation for ristorante da luca e marianna on Via del Gazometro. We went here for dinner after reservations at Fratelli Mori fell through and it was the best meal I’d had the entire trip. The lamb fettuccine and the suppli were the highlights but everything was good. If you’re in Ostiense then look this place up for dinner and then go for gelato at Geletaria La Romana just down the street.
