NCL Epic for the British

Well Brits how do you feel on a cruise to nowhere, the Italians and NCL have really stitched us up, imagine being the only country on board whilst everyone else goes ashore, will NCL put privileges onboard for us, like entertainment during the day, a boat maybe to show us the islands, not charge us docking fees, I doubt? Remember we are socialising and talking to the same passengers that are going ashore, and what will they bring back to the ship? So really what’s it all about…Can’t say the B word..remember Italians have a history of changing there minds…SO

It is very sad, sorry you have to go through this. Just now we had to cancel our trans Atlantic on the Epic as I had a mixed vaccine here in Canada and the US do not recognize a mix of Pfizer / Moderna

you could have cancelled under Peace of Mind up to 15 days before.

We are sailing on 26th Sept and made the decision to go anyway, it will be relaxing and we do have the spa package. Now, if only NCL will accept our upgrade bid

Since the start of everything closing down, we had 5 cruises cancelled on us. At first we been disappointed but in time we learnt to adjust. It has been been a bummer as two of those cruises were a total steal but life goes go on for us.

The attitude we have now is that things can and will change. The situation is too fluid. What is said one day might not be the next. So you can either accept that or not.

We booked this cruise around Easter time, hoping that things will be better by October. Many people I know would think we are mad to chose something this year. Was it a risk? Yes. Did we have to take it? No

Who's to say what will happen in October? NCL have their regulations. But they have no control over specific countries' regulations. They too must abide to them

What you said is true. We will be mixing with everyone else on board. So what's the difference? Why us and not another country.

Having said that, we already talked about staying on the ship once we got on board. For us, our main objective is to get away. Anything else is a bonus right now.

Good attitude, we too have cancelled or have had cancelled about five or six cruises.  Life does go on regardless.  We have three more in the works and just booked another for January 2003 but will have to see what happens. Not really sure if we need the stress of all the new rules and regulations right now.

No one does. My partner keeps up to date with them. Me, not so much. Maybe this time next month. A lot can change.

We have three cruises booked. Hopefully as time goes on and the world learns to adapt, rules and regulations become easier for you and I

I have been on a recent Princess Seacation and easily adjusted to a cruise without Ports. We sailed at 37% capacity.

In respect of our forthcoming NCL Epic cruise, the Italian PM has definitely singled out UK residents. I live in Northern Ireland but will be flying on my Irish passport from Dublin, part of EU, which is an hour away from my home. So will be sharing a plane with people that have the magic EU Covid Passport. When you make comparisons with US COVID statistics the rules for UK residents not being allowed off the ship don't make any sense based on following Covid Statistics.

US Covid cases are currently 11380k per 100k people vs UK currently 9620 per 100k people. 70% of population vaccinated in UK and 60% in US.

We still plan to cruise if permitted. It's still a much needed break. My husband is a Paramedic who has worked long hours throughout the pandemic.   Already had 1 set of flights to Barcelona cancelled by Easyjet without any notification. Had to rebook with Ryanair.

What is the issue? Is it the 5 day quarantine?
If it is can you not just get there 5 days early for the cruise, we are going to have to spend 14 days in a third country (possible Canada) to enter the US.

I wonder how British passport holders who live in the EU and elsewhere outside the U.K. are going to come off, the contractors the ports use are not very understanding to put it mildly….I can see some major issues forthcoming.

Yes we are in Barcelona 5 days earlier, unfortunately it’s not Italy

Cruising during a pandemic there will always be hoops to jump through. I'm travelling from an EU country to Barcelona on an EU passport but my permanent address is part of UK. It is what it is. I'm still happy to be cruising, albeit on what is now a European Seacation.

Ah, now I follow, sorry I was being dim. If you were staring in Italy you would be OK.

That's just nuts if they are basing it on the type of passport you travel on and not where you have come from. Presumably if a Spanish EU passport holder spends a week in the UK they can enter Italy with no quarantine?

I think there’s a restriction about being in the U.K. in the last 14 days, that’s why US passengers can’t travel through Heathrow

Like we have to do to get to the US, is 14 days in Barcelona pre cruise impossible?

I know it's difficult for us to eak out the time for 14 days pre cruise for the US.

Not impossible but I would have to leave tomorrow? I could fiddle it with an address in Spain I have access too,  but it would mean false passports etc

And possible arrest 🥲

Here in Germany I´d be able to cancel as the cruise has changed in a way which turns it into a totally different cruise. Out of 5 ports you´re not able to leave the ship in 4. Only 1 port left (Palma de Mallorca) to leave the ship. This would be a reason to cancel and not to lose 100% but get all the money back.

I’ve been emailing NCL since Saturday morning and leaving phone messages with the PCC I use, they haven’t responded! Very poor

Oooo what did they say? If the rules change with regards to UK and Italy on quarantine will they also change their rules by the 5th?

Oh yes nothing is in concrete, I can’t see how the Italians can keep this 5 days isolation in force, unless it’s political
