ChrisNCruiser Posted September 30, 2021 #1 Share Posted September 30, 2021 I'm on the Pride this week - shortly after leaving Bimini, we saw several currently-out-of-service Carnival ships (and one non-Carnival ship) huddled together for protection in the ocean. It was beautiful and creepy. The Sunrise was close by but I couldn't get a decent picture.
2Shoes2Go Posted September 30, 2021 #2 Share Posted September 30, 2021 It is haunting. We sailed by a “pod” of them last week, one night, under a full moon, on Magic. ❤️

maryhou Posted September 30, 2021 #5 Share Posted September 30, 2021 We are supposed to cruise on the Freedom for New Years. Any idea when it’s supposed to be back loaded with passengers?

skrufy Posted September 30, 2021 #8 Share Posted September 30, 2021 We are on the Freedom B2B this Christmas. Getting close to my nervous zone. Three cruises cancelled, all around 70 days. Will feel relieved when the word is out Freedom is on its way to Miami.

I can't wait for the first cruise back to happen!
Pellaz Posted October 1, 2021 #10 Share Posted October 1, 2021 In the words of Gandalf the White, "The board is set; the pieces are moving." Can't wait to see these ships come out of hibernation and back to revenue service.

Rare mexicobob Posted October 2, 2021 #12 Share Posted October 2, 2021 Why are these ships "huddled together for protection"? From what? Do we have pirates in this area of the world?

Do we have pirates in this area of the world? They're not really huddled together for protection. It was my lame attempt at being cute. That said, there must be some reason that they're all clumped together - perhaps a sharing of resources. We learned on the Pride this week that they kept a skeleton crew of 110 on board to keep things running before resuming service. There were lifeboats out in the water moving between them as we were sailing by. Those 4 ships are fully staffed at the moment, and will all go into service within the next 6 weeks. Also, Legend looks amazing with the new makeover!

I understand that one ship will periodically go into port for supplies and to transfer incoming and outgoing mail for the crew. It makes sense for them all to cluster together. Besides, the seas CAN be dangerous, so overlapping fields of fire might be beneficial: https://www.theonion.com/shelling-from-royal-caribbean-s-m-s-allure-sinks-car-1819580080
