Gblasingame Posted October 21, 2021 #1 Share Posted October 21, 2021 I'm happy that I called RC and got my Nov 14th cruise repriced and now have $900 OBC. I am afraid I won't spend it all due to me already booking my Excursions, prepaid gratuities, and 3 night Dinner package. I know I can use some of it by buying drinks, but we are not heavy drinkers. Never had OBC, so need guidance on how not to leave money behind. Is it use it or lose it type of thing?
Rare brillohead Posted October 21, 2021 #2 Share Posted October 21, 2021 You can cancel and rebook your excursions and dinner packages.
Sunshine3601 Posted October 21, 2021 #3 Share Posted October 21, 2021 You can go to the casino and turn your OBC into cash by going to a slot machine and withdrawing the funds thru room account or you can use it to pre-pay your tips, book excursions, internet, dining packages, beverage packages, spa treatments, etc. etc. I can find a million ways to spend $900😁
ScubaCat3 Posted October 22, 2021 #4 Share Posted October 22, 2021 I also repriced an upcoming cruise and received a large amount of on board credit. The agent told me it was refundable. Was she wrong? It wouldn’t be the first time receiving incorrect information from a Royal agent. Is there any way to know for sure?

Compare the prices in the cruise planner to what you paid when you purchased and double check that the excursions & dinner packages are still available. Then cancel and rebook with the obc. I just called to verify and was told the OBC is non-refundable. I guess it's a good problem to have. I will have to go shopping in the cruise planner and study up on the casino trick to withdraw OBC. If for whatever reason you can't do the casino trick through the slot machine, you can also withdraw money at the casino cashier for a fee (probably 5%). Better to pay a 5% fee and get 95% of your cash back than to leave money lying there for Royal to keep!

I hope I don't need it but if I do I will certainly use it!
AustinCruise Posted October 22, 2021 #11 Share Posted October 22, 2021 If you do any extra tips, there is also a form you can fill out to take it from your account (obc). Staff clearly prefers cash though. but if you can re-book your dining and excursions it would take up a good chunk of the obc.

I was just wondering if using OBC to tip was possible but I can see how cash would be more popular. I just rebooked all my cruise planner items. It used up about half of the OBC. I will try the casino trick for the rest.

ScubaCat3 Posted November 7, 2021 #15 Share Posted November 7, 2021 Just following up to report that the casino trick still works as advertised to withdraw non-refundable on board credit. It only took a couple of minutes today to walk away with cash in hand. Thanks for everyone’s advice!
