Miami - Airport, car, hotel, port logistics

Flying into MIA some Sat. Getting on cruise ship at port Sun. In between want a rental car to drive around and see the sights and a hotel to sleep. 
 

I’m thinking rent car at airport, stay at airport area hotel, return car at airport,  take taxi to port. Any other ideas or suggestions?

Sounds like a good idea.  Lots of hotels at airport including several by Marriott.

You don't actually need a car to see/experience Miami.  Also most downtown and Miami Beach hotels will charge guests $25-30+ per night for parking.

 

Pre-virus there were a couple of downtown rental locations close to the port - Hertz and Avis - that would offer you a shorter trip to POM after dropping off the rental.

Agree with @JohninDC. There is great public transit around the Miami area. No need to rent a car.

Good to hear there is public transport.  We're staying at Comfort Inn by MIA . Does anyone know if there are restaurants close by. Is is safe to walk?
