Tracfone on a Carnival ship

   Up to now I have made do with a prepaid Tracfone, with all its limitations.

   The question is: Will the Carnival app work on Tracfone while we are at sea? Or should I get a new phone?

Let me be more specific: I know Tracfone will not work at sea; that is not the question.  Instead, I need to know whether the intraship app works for ordering or notices. Thank you.

That more depends on your model of phone, have you tried downloading their hub app already?

If you can download the HUB app before you leave and your phone will support using wifi while in airplane mode, you should be fine.

Apologies if this is hijacking the thread (it is), but I've always been curious what happens with pay-as-you-go phones (x-minutes per month/unlimited monthly) if they're not put in airplane mode on ships?

The charges and bill come from your cell phone provider (not Carnival)... so you might be able to use whatever minutes you have on your account, but once that expires, you won't be able to use your phone (except for the Hub app /wifi).  But not all cell providers are supported.  You can go to this web site

We just got off the Magic on Sunday. I have a LG Rebel4 smartphone and am a tracfone user. We has no problem downloading the Carnival Hub app. It proved to be a very useful tool. Everything you want or need to know is there. I am not overly tech savvy but it was simple to do.

Probably nothing but a lot of battery drain trying to find signal. The pay as you go plans, typically don't have roaming.

  That's good news. I just downloaded the Hub app to my Tracfone. Since my partner has her AT&T, this is not a major issue, although I may go to AT&T under her plan,

I'm glad that you were able to download the app. Just in case anyone stumbles across this discussion, the Carnival app requires an Android 7.0 or higher or an iOS 12 or higher.

The Hub app will work just fine.  I have had Tracfones for years.  As long as it is a smartphone and you are in airplane mode, you should be able to access the Hub.

I have used my Samsung A1e phone with Tracfone service several times in the past two months aboard Panorama. Make sure you download the Carnival Hub app before you board and set it up with your name, booking number and D.O.B.
