Once your vaccination status has been confirmed, you are issued a bracelet that must be worn at all times. I had on long sleeves one day and was constantly asked by crew members to show my bracelet as it wasn’t easily visible. Anyone over the age of twelve (soon to be five) must be vaccinated to sail. You should read the “Healthy Sailing Protocols” on the RCG website.
serious sealeggs Posted December 7, 2021 Author #27 Share Posted December 7, 2021 The crew have informed us that they are not allowed off ship in most ports. Only in Coco Cay per per CDC safety requirements
serious sealeggs Posted December 7, 2021 Author #28 Share Posted December 7, 2021 NO STRAWS on RCL anymore. If you order mixed drinks cocktails or even soda you will not get a straw. If fact you can’t find them anywhere not even a stirrer. So if you want them plan to bring your own. I did find a waiter in the casino who happened to discreetly give me a paper straw but no where else. So plan accordingly.

Not that vaccines will prevent you from catching COVID but lessen the symptoms and need for hospitalization. also less likely to spread from one vaccinated person to another. so you feel safer.

queenL Posted December 7, 2021 #34 Share Posted December 7, 2021 I usually wait until I'm onboard to book specialty dining. You are making me rethink that. Did they have different dining packages for sale once you boarded?

Did they have different dining packages for sale once you boarded? We always wait to book once onboard so that we can use our Diamond BOGO discount. We’ve never had a problem in the past booking onboard on embarkation day. But with the limited capacity restrictions in the restaurants and now capacity is at 75% I think it fills up rather quickly. If you are flexible with days and times, like we were, you will probably get in to your favorites. Yes you can still buy packages onboard.

A bloger on Ovation a few weeks ago said vaxed MDR was full and tables were almost on top of each other, they moved to the unvaxed dining room for added space. No way to tell who might be next to you.. this must have been during the non-school break sailing. We sailed on Harmony at Thanksgiving, and in our unvaxxed MDR on deck 5 and unvaxxed MDR on deck 4 the tables were mere inches apart. And I am not talking about two-person tables. We are talking about family sized 5-6 people tables. My dad was sitting about 5" away from the kid at the neighboring table. We were first placed at a table for 10 with another family who, thankfully, didn't show up. Then we got moved to a 6-person table. ALL the Early Seating tables on both deck 4 and 5 (unvaxxed) during our sailing were full. We had to get on a waiting list. Outside of school breaks, you will have fewer families with kids, and more tables available to them and vaxxed people.

Harmony had purple, whereas Indy had teal colored bands. The only time I was asked to show mine was in line for the theater performance - for the vaxxed section on deck 4, but it was more like "folks, just making sure you are all lining up for the correct V section - y'all must be fully vaxxed!" There were a couple of teens and pre-teens in line - already vaxxed as well. Somebody on the cruise mentioned that the staff didn't believe that their tiny 12 yo DD was fully vaxxed. We, on the other hand, have a 5' 10 yo who looks tall enough to be 12+... Well, he wasn't fully vaxxed on that cruise, but he is now!

taglovestocruise Posted December 7, 2021 #41 Share Posted December 7, 2021 Are they giving out bottles of water in the DL or do they ding your voucher. Why do you think the DL is so overcrowded, are the appetizers that great.

Trying to get my ducks in a row. we weren't given one, but you are welcome to click on the link in my signature and look through the daily compasses I posted. I know it's more painful, but at least you'll have the info. Most shows were in the evening, starting at 7:15 pm and later. We easily made it to all of them after our early dining option, to which we showed up at 5:45-6 pm. There was a Big Daddy Getaway show scheduled in the middle of the day which was cancelled after we sat there for 40+ minutes in the direct afternoon sun. They rescheduled it for 2:30 pm on St Thomas day. We made it. Some shows overlapped, which I didn't notice when I made reservations. Thankfully, we went to a 1887 ice skating show on a whim the day before, and they still had space for families (with unvaxxed kids) available just as the show was starting. Good thing we did, because later on the skaters got injured and they did the iSkate show instead, which we had already seen that week. All in all, try to get on the ship as early as you can and make reservations right away. Families with unvaxxed kids are more limited in their choices, because Harmony had showings for vaxxed people only, and shows rated E for everyone had limited seating for families with unvaxxed kids. On our holiday sailing, there were 514 kids under 12, which is a much bigger chunk of the customer base than on non-holiday sailings.
