Question about specialty dining

I am new to NCL and noticed that I can now book my specialty dining.  We are traveling with another couple and when I went to make the reservation it asked me “how many in party”. I put 4 for both couples. Is this correct or does each reservation need to make their own dining reservation?
Thank you.

You have done it correctly. The system is just asking how many people, at this point they don’t care who those people are.

It gets slightly more complicated if not everyone has the dining package and you are booking places with a fixed price (Moderno or Teppanyaki). In that case make sure the booking is done by someone with the package to avoid being charged up front.

If also helps if you link the cabin reservations of your traveling party.  It's not necessary, but it will help avoid billing mixups.   More of an old school thing so you'd end up on the same bus for excursions back before they had the cattle calls in the theater.

This does not link credit cards.  It just lets the system know you are traveling together.  You CC or TA can do it.

Funny part is that I have a studio booked on 1/3/22 but when I do my specialty dining, the minimum amount of diners is 2 on the reservation list. Ahh well, maybe I'll make a friend 😇

I had the same problem, just book it ,the table is the same size as they don't have single seat tables.

Same applies to folks with an odd number of guests (up to 7 as I think most specialty tables are 8-tops) just book the next size up (I've been there too!)

Thank you all for your replies.  Our reservations are linked and we both have two free specIalty dinners, so I should be good to go!  It’s funny how different the cruise lines are on what is required.  For Royal I have to link the specific people to the reservation and the check out process is extensive. With NCL it was too easy, firgurd I probably goofed up somewhere!

It is quite easy on NCL. I think it helps that so many restaurants are a la carte, so there’s no set fee to book. But when we had the SDP, we were able to make a reservation for 2-8 for free without any additional information. They deal with accounts and charging when you get there.

They will seat you by yourself.  The waiter will ask if someone is joining you.  Just tell the no and the waiter will take the other place setting away.

Just got home from the Escape 12/18.  You could pretty much show up at any time for dining reservations and there were tons of tables available. Just because a restaurant showed no availability, did not mean they were full. They keep quite a few tables for walk ins and with the ship being just about 50% full, there was plenty of open seating to be head.

Moderno was amazing!!!!! (the Brazilian steakhouse)
