Upgrade after Boarding?

I know this is a long shot, but has anyone recently experienced an upgrade after boarding? I know this never used to happen, but I thought maybe.....with reduced passenger numbers.

I asked for one last cruise and was told they do not have any available rooms (received phone message next day after inquiring, right after getting onboard). Ship count was at 75% of double capacity (3600 Odyssey).

My neighbor on Anthem (12/12/21 sailing) did (the second day). I seem to recall at least one other report of it. I was in line at GS on Anthem and when someone asked they said yes, likely, but come back after sail away. This will likely be very YMMV.

I tried yesterday after boarding and was told to check after we sailed. When I went back to guest services they said they weren’t able to move people as it would confuse things if they needed to contact people later???

The RCI bean counters who rely on increased revenue would not like that answer either.

They told you wrong.   But then again...RCI:  Really Consistently Inconsistent.

Shame they are running the Upbid program so poorly.  From what I can gather (and from personal experience), they have missed a lot of $$$$ opportunities.  🤑

Wonder what rate they use when offering onboard upgrades. Surely they aren't FOC 😄
