Just off Apex

We just finished sailing the Apex b2b in a cat. S3 cabin.  We loved the retreat and loved our cabin choice.  We did have some Covid cases onboard both cruises.  Will be happy to answer any questions.

I've read reports that the Retreat and Luminae are crowded.  That they have the suites fully booked, that the pools were crowded and it was difficult getting a lounge chair in the Retreat area, while the regular pool was empty.  Did you find any of this true?

Also, did you go to any of the 4 regular restaurants?  Any specialties?

Glad you had a great cruise.  We sail out on Wednesday on Reflection.  Glad you loved the Retreat.  How many Covid cases did you have?  Was it easy to social distance?  Were there mask bags in Luminae?

We had 2 passengers with covid on Jan 3rd sailing but we noticed about a dozen crew members being escorted off the ship when we returned to Ft Lauderdale.  I'm pretty sure they were covid cases.  Didn't hear of any passengers with covid on the 2nd sailing but again, crew members were stricken.  It pretty easy to social distance, but we did have to move a couple of times in the theater.  They did have mask bags in Luminae but sometimes weren't given out.

The suites were all booked, but there were a few last minute cancelations.  We alway eat early and Luminae was never crowded when we were there.  Most of the window seats were taken but the other side was empty.  We never had a problem getting loungers, but again we like to get to the retreat deck early.  We were generally the first to use the whirlpool and swimming pool.  They did get a lot of use later on.  We did try the Cyprus restaurant and found it great.  They had the best Greek salad that we have ever had other than in Greece.

In the Retreat next weekend on the Apex. Definitely love to hear if it was crowded. Were you able to eat at Blu too? Thanks

The retreat was busy but not crowded.  We didn't have a chance to try Blu, we've done Blu many times, so we decided to stick with Luminae.

Rollie can you give details around the meeting held for B2B passengers and the testing process? We are on Apex 2/12 for our first B2B and are getting so excited! I’m a planner so I would like to understand the process, did you have to get off the ship or could you stay onboard? Also did you notice the dinner menu repeated in Luminae? We are fine if it does as we plan on eating on a few specialties as well as Blu a few times over both cruises.
Thank you in advance!

Thank you so much for offering your Apex expertise.  Were you able to order from the MDR menu in Luminae?  Did you have difficulty obtaining dining reservations at Cyprus?

We didn’t try to order from the mdr but our waiter offered. Our retreat host made our reservation, and got our preferred time.

We had our meeting in the meeting room (go figure) deck 4 forward. Meeting was on Thursday and really was nothing to it. They let you know where to meet on turnaround day, and all information needed. Got tested on Friday morning in Normandy restaurant and had results around noon. Dinner menu was repeated but as we were on a five day cruise first two on the menus were new to us.

How do they handle entertainment on the ship?  Skip spaces between groups or have to have reservations for shows?  I assume everyone wears masks for the shows since they are indoors.

Elaine

There is no spacing being done, that's all on you.  We sat in the upper deck and off to the side a bit.  We did move once when we felt that someone got too close.  Masks are required but some guest took them off when the show started.

I was on Equinox Jan 3. No regulations on entertainment, but often only had late showing. Masks were required but not at all enforced.

I just came off Apex as well and I can't speak for the retreat but the main pool deck was fairly busy. There were tons of chairs on other decks but the pool stayed pretty occupied. The solarium had plenty of seats available and if you are a spa person, the Thermal Suite was never really crowded. We ate at Eden and it was pretty empty and for the rest of the cruise we dined in BLU. The reservations for Prime steakhouse seemed difficult to come by but every time I walked by, it was less than 50% full. BLU is very crowded early but clears out by 8pm. Oceanview cafe for dinner is almost deserted and the food is really good.

I’m sailing on Apex this coming Saturday, 1/22, in a Sky Suite. Just noticed I never received my pre-cruise email from the Suite Concierge with the link. Do you happen to have the email and email address? TYIA!

We never received an email ether.  Not sure they do that for Sky Suites anymore.

Check your junk mail.

I am in a SS on the Apex and received the personalize your cruise

you can try this link.  I don’t think it has anything to do with my account as the BK#, sailing date and etc has to be entered.   The title does say for the Apex

Thank you miched! I had never received that email before and checked it and worked for me on our upcoming Apex cruise!

Beauty that it worked.

For the most part I try to assist and be helpful but because of my fun attitude some may think I am a clown, jerk or whatever.  I just like to have fun when I can and not take anything too serious.

Life is great

Happy cruising 🌊🚢🇺🇸🌅
