Bar & Wine Waiter?

Am I getting confused with another line, but did Princess have a special beverage waiter who served as a wine waiter as well as taking all bar and soda orders in the MDRs? (echoes of the days of wine sommeliers)

We were just on the Ruby Princess and our orders were taken by the assistant waiters, who seemed not to have any training on American bar ordering, to unsatisfactory results.

Now and then Princess has had sommeliers, but it has been several years since they had them.

 

So, currently drink orders (including wine and bar orders) are taken by your waiter or assistant waiter.

I've found it easier and faster to pick up drinks before going into the dining room.  So many bars!  And my drink is always correct and they'll tell me immediately if they are out of a specific wine, instead of the 20 minute wait.  Don't give me a wine menu and be out of 3/4ths of them.  Print out a sheet and tell us what they really DO have.  

 

So picking it up is the way we always go.  Even for a soda or coffee.

Assistant waiter it has been for at least 15 years. Pre covid these waiters probably had more experience

Which is what we do, and then order another glass of wine when we place our food order.
