Rare TiogaCruiser Posted February 27, 2022 #2 Share Posted February 27, 2022 https://www.hollandamerica.com/en_US/deals/military-healthcare-firstresponder-appreciation.html When I first read about the deal, I thought it applied to retired medical personnel and retired first responders also. Now in re-reading it, it looks like “ retired” only applies to military.

Thanks Follow the link given above, and about 2/3 of the way down the page there is a section called “Redeem This Offer” and there are two links… one for military, one for FR and health care. The application is easy. I did it two weeks ago and they applied it without issue. 3

It says “ new bookings only”, yet you have to supply a booking number.
Djb4CC Posted February 28, 2022 #8 Share Posted February 28, 2022 We had the booking for months now… we leave March 20th. Apart from the booking info and the passenger details, it was just the employer name and job title for the First Responder credit (unsure what is needed for Military.

PROCRUISE Posted February 28, 2022 #10 Share Posted February 28, 2022 Very nice gesture on the part of HAL. Princess always gives $100 OBC to all honorably discharged veterans on ALL cruises. Just have to have your DD-214 on file with them. 1

Information for the military discount is minimal: booking number, name, branch of military (no DD-214 or military ID required). My philosophy is to "ask", they will approve it or they won't. Since it takes less than 3 minutes to fill out the form, it is definitely worth the time. Last October for our Koningsdam cruise they had a similar offer and we received both the $100 military OBC and the $100 shareholders benefit. 2

cruisetravlr Posted March 5, 2022 #14 Share Posted March 5, 2022 Many thanks to those that provided this information and the link. I applied for ours Wednesday and got an email confirmation today. Also much appreciation to HAL for this recognition. 🤗
Linguist208 Posted March 10, 2022 #15 Share Posted March 10, 2022 Just remember that it's a *PER STATEROOM* credit. My wife and I are both veterans, and we only get one $100 credit (which HAL has confirmed we're getting but I still don't see it on my account or my Navigator app...)
Bad1987 Posted March 10, 2022 #16 Share Posted March 10, 2022 My search shows that you need to purchase the HIA to receive this bonus...is this correct?
KAKcruiser Posted March 11, 2022 #17 Share Posted March 11, 2022 I don't think so.
Umbarger Posted March 11, 2022 #18 Share Posted March 11, 2022 I applied for this and was denied since it was not good for the cruise I was on. I believe it's valid on very few cruises
lstrong Posted March 11, 2022 #19 Share Posted March 11, 2022 I believe t does require the HIA. We were denied in November when we did not have it, but approved for may when we do have it
KAKcruiser Posted March 11, 2022 #20 Share Posted March 11, 2022 I had it applied without the HIA. However it wasn't easy. I was refused a few times also.

rj59 Posted March 15, 2022 #22 Share Posted March 15, 2022 Thanks for the tip! I've been mostly sailing Princess since restart, since they've waived the 200% single supplement often, and the $100 military credit also played a huge part. I booked a May coastal cruise on Noordam, because I miss HAL and an actual wraparound promenade deck. This will make it even nicer.
cruisetravlr Posted March 20, 2022 #23 Share Posted March 20, 2022 We received our OBC without HIA. We are both veterans, but as Linguist208 stated, it is only good for one credit per stateroom. Got ours the first time we applied without any problem. Just finished sailing today on a partial Panama Canal transit on the Eurodam. Boy, it’s good to be back! 🤗
