Well, my coffee adventure continues.  You may or may not know, i am not a fan of the Windjammer or any buffet.  Fortunately, since we have a later tour, we slept in.  Last night was the first good night sleep i had all cruise.  Its the Diamond benefits.  I may have to get just non alcoholic stuff from here on out.

Anyways, back to the Windjammer.  As i told you earlier, the Windjammer cups are slightly too small for the filter cap on the aeropress but i realize that its just the cap.  I could still press the coffee into cup, it just sits on top of cup instead of in it.  What the windjammer doesn’t have, those little pots for hot water that the MDR has.  No problem, i’ll just get a mug of hot water.  Well, to my dismay, they don’t pour nearly as well as those pots.  My wife is giving me this look of “why do you keep making a mess”

And when i went to make my second cup, i almost spilt my coffee beans onto the table and saved it at the last second.  My wife gives me that look again…

I think you are going to have to just give in and bring your own insulated pot and cups that will fit from now on.

Another performer who works the ships doing an expanded juggling show is Rick Novel.  First saw him years ago working around outside at Baltimore's Inner Harbor.  Have since seen him on Baltimore ships juggling all sorts of things (sharp, dull and edible) on the ground, on a ladder and on a unicycle.  As hard as it is to do, it is SO much harder to do when the floor is pitching and moving under you.:classic_ohmy:

BTW...I have a great unicycle story if you ever run into me.  Just remember to ask and I'll be happy to share.:classic_tongue:

Yup, that’s his name.  That’s who i’m talking about.  I didn’t know he worked around the Harbor prior to being on the ship.

I might do that!  I don’t need to bring the cups as you can see, I stole them for my use from the MDR.  I hid them up here after rinsing them out to reuse so our room attendant doesn’t clear them out.

Oh!  I can steal the insulated pots that they gave me one morning from room service and reuse them!!!!

Yup. That's the way to do it.

So after the sting of the lousy performer, we enjoyed dinner at the MDR.  With only 1 specialty restaurant, the MDR is your best bet really.

Menu.

Salmon & Shrimp Fritters.  These were surprisingly good.

Lobster & Srimp Bisque.  Just a *little* too salty.

Chicken Marsala.  Again, surprisingly good.  I was thinking earlier how they didn’t have as many chicken dishes so far.

After Dinner, we were told they were resuming the dancing under the stars deck party.  We went up and was surprised the dance party consisted of live music.  I was kinda expecting the DJ.  However, there was a heavy wind blowing over the deck which made it a little difficult and secondary, this band isn’t quite hitting the note right.  Its just a little off.  Not bad, just needs a little more oomph.

We then went to. Boleros, and this band was amazing.  Funny story, we met the drummer of this band at our rum tour.  He was counted as an “escort”.  Not sure what that meant.  I asked him, but i don’t think he could explain it to me well.  Or didn’t want to.  Since Barbados was the other restricted port we had, I jokingly said he had to make sure none of us cut and ran from the excursion.  He didn’t quite get that.  Nonetheless, they are good.  He said he’s here until July I think.

This band only played a 45 minute set.  After that, we ended up in the Schooner lounge with the piano guy.  He’s pretty good too.  My wife loves him.

And that pretty much ends day 8.

Early on, he performed under another name that I just can't remember.:classic_sad:  For some reason, he changed back to his real name.  Last I heard, he lives up in Shrewsbury, PA in a big, old church he converted to living and rehearsal space.

One of the ways crew can get off the ship is as an excursion observer. They're supposed to give feedback when they return to the powers at be. Not sure if they have any other duty while on it besides that. Source: Jordan Bauth

Good Morning from Brasseterre, St. Kitts & Nevis.

We’re here with Celebrity Millenium.  Azamara Quest is pulling in as well but she’s on the other side of Millennium i think.

So this morning i had a little scare.  Well, maybe scare is too hard a word.  I woke up and thought i woke up late at 10:30.  I thought i had overslept but it turns out that my phone updated the time even though i set it to manual.  Grrrrrr.  So it was really 9:30, but still annoying.  I didn’t miss anything but i had feared i missed breakfast totally.

So our tour does not meet until 12:45.  I had the plan to check out the National Museum of St Kitts, but when we got there, it looked like it was totally under renovation.

Here are some shots of the port.

Our headwaiter on GR in April 2019 was an "escort" on our Coastal Cruise to the Pitons in St Lucia on a catamaran.  He said they send staff on excursions randomly to make sure the guests are getting what they paid for and that the excursion meets certain standards.   So, he got a free excursion and RCI got a review.

So on this tour, I made it to Vibe Bar and Grill.  EDFD2E68-1224-4751-AC2B-9C4CFC8C4710.thumb.jpeg.eac52b3d8a78cc5d37f35392c47b6e04.jpeg

They have this thing called Grizzler.  Neither of us will try it but its a drink that pretty much has vodka and marijuana.  our tour guide said take this REAL slow.

here are some pics from our tour.  This island is amazing.

Our tour took us off roadish.  This is a two way road.

We got the recommendation for Vibes from our tour guide.  We were a little suspicious because he hyped that Grizzler drink and you could only get it at Vibes.  We asked about food and he also said Vibes.  Almost like he was getting a kickback from the place

maybe.

Anyways, this is the curry mutton.

Absolutely amazing.  The only issue was that they were really slow.  We got in there at about 3:10.  We didn’t get our food until 4pm and we had to leave by 4:15.  I literally drank this thing down it was that good.

Okay, i’m a little disjointed today.

Today’s adventure was called 4x4 Island Safari and Beach tour, aka as Greg’s Safari.

As we were walking up to the tour vehicle area, my wife saw and open air bus and she goes “Man, an open air bus in this heat?”. And then we turn the corner to this.

Now, when i booked to tour, I got the impression that we were kind of driving ourselves.  I was actually kind of disappointed about that.

However, this tour took us all over the island and as you saw from the earlier post, its pretty spectacular.

Here are some more shots.

I went to get my Covid test from the urgent case that I used last time at 8 am.  It was quick.  In and out in less than 5 minutes for both my wife and I.

https://quality1urgentcare.com/ These guys are about 30 minutes from the port of Baltimore but they do walk ins and is covered by insurance.  I paid nothing.  Very efficient and quick.

It took longer to coffee from the Starbucks next door.

So 2 1/2 hours later, i check the portal and print out my test results...only to realize that it was my test results for my December test.  Waa waa....my results are in yet.  Its this limbo time of waiting that's killing me.

I hate this requirement, even though I know its a necessary one.  The idea that your entire cruise is balanced on the tip of a swab.

When did you get informed about the requirement for testing?

I just checked in for my Enchantment cruise for April 22 and there's nothing there about having to test, even in the section for what to do before the cruise!

This is my third cruise since cruising resumed so I knew.  However, as others have mentioned, its flashing on the royal site that takes you to testing protocols.  If you booked through a TA, they should have told you and if they didn’t, then your TA’s are negligent and they should not be TAs.  This is crucial information.  Also, Royal sends you emails reminding you of these protocols.  I ignored them only because i’ve already made plans so I can’t remember exactly how soon before the cruise they remind you.

This is in the app under health and i’m pretty sure you had to scroll past this before even getting to check in.

French Onion soup.  I got this against my better judgment.  I love french onion soup, but also know that Royal puts too much salt in it so i avoided it.  Tonight, i decided to get it.  I can hear my doctor yelling at me from

over a thousand miles away.

Artichoke Crepes.  This was surprisingly goof.

Sticky Toffee Pudding.  This was good but the name doesn’t work.  Its not sticky, i didn’t taste toffee much and not pudding.
