frisbeewife Posted March 30, 2022 #1 Share Posted March 30, 2022 I’ve heard the port side of POA is best for views of the Na Pali coast. Would an aft balcony be good too? I was thinking an aft would give good views for the entire trip, not just Na Pali. Any thoughts?
4 cruisers Posted March 30, 2022 #2 Share Posted March 30, 2022 To us, you can't beat an aft balcony~
Rare KeithJenner Posted March 30, 2022 #3 Share Posted March 30, 2022 Port side is best for that hour or so, but the cruise is a week and the aft is best for the rest of the time. We had an aft and went to the promenade deck for the Na Poli coast. That worked fine.
dexddd Posted March 30, 2022 #4 Share Posted March 30, 2022 Port is typically closer as the ship turns to the right after awhile but aft you'd get both directions.
frisbeewife Posted March 30, 2022 Author #5 Share Posted March 30, 2022 Thanks! This’ll be our first and last trip to HA and I’m going to spring for the aft balcony. Now I have to decide what to do with a few extra days before/after the cruise. I have a niece in Honolulu so she can help with that. And of course CC is full of great ideas. 😉
Gracelyn Posted March 31, 2022 #6 Share Posted March 31, 2022 (edited) we Booked Portside Decided like you this would be your one and only trip to Hawaii likely, so we splurged for an aft balcon on the ninth deck but not going till the fall Edited March 31, 2022 by Gracelyn
janice2348 Posted March 31, 2022 #7 Share Posted March 31, 2022 If they are doing a night sailing by the volcano; starboard. Spectacular! We saw the napali coast from the starboard side window in the main dining room. The ship had turned around and we got a beautiful rainbow.

Gracelyn Posted April 1, 2022 #9 Share Posted April 1, 2022 (edited) Yes, this map shows it turning left. That’s turning portside. So maybe starboard doesn’t see it? Edited April 1, 2022 by Gracelyn

When we did it we travelled fairly close to the coast with the views to the port side. When we turned round and sailed back we were a lot further from the coast, so the view from the starboard side was nothing like as good as it had been from port.
