Does NCL still provide a printed daily schedule of activities?

I don't remember what these used to be called...haven't been on a ship since 2019 (like everyone, I guess) - basically the little printed daily schedule of activities and entertainment options that you'd get in your "mailbox" outside of your cabin door each day.

The Free Style Daily is still printed and placed in your room each night. However, they no longer provide information about the ports.

In the past their used to be a little map and some general information that was helpful. So be sure to research the ports before you cruise and hope they don't change the itinerary.

Free Style Daily...thank you!! Couldn't dredge up that name no matter how I tried.   Fortunately, we'll be in Bermuda for the 3rd time, so port info isn't quite so critical, but we like to know where to meet up for certain activities.  Thank you!

Here's a Freestyle Daily from our Alaska cruise last August.  On that cruise, they had them by Guest Services and you had to stop by and pick one up.  On our Mexico cruise in December, our steward was leaving them in our room every day.  Happy cruising!

On the Encore right now, and can confirm get the printed Freestyle Daily in our room each evening.  It is also available digitally in the NCL app via their free wifi access (a specific icon at top of app.  We now take screenshots of each page and no longer need to take photos of the paper copy ☺️

@sberg23 for some reason I didn't think to try this when I was on the Joy (maybe I was having too much fun?) but when you open it from the menu on the right it effectively opens a PDF file.  Is there a way you can just save that PDF?  That's easier than taking a screenshot...

  • 6 months later...

Seems most folks use the app so there's not as many copies floating around online anymore.  I usually have my phone on me but like looking at my highlighted paper copy at a glance . Funny because at home my phone is my calendar and everything else, guess the hardcopy is my 'on vacation' mindset.

I wish there was a way to save or highlight certain activities on the app. That’s the only reason I like having the paper copy.

There are two ways to view the "schedule", one is effectively a PDF of the FSD delivered to your room, but within the app is another way that I thought did allow you to add items of interest so you can refer back to it for where you might want to go.

this never worked for me on multiple cruises on my device. i get an error message that a system error has occurred or it will just never open

the other way, is by going to the whats happening section and clicking on the hearts to add it as favorite. unfortunately there is no notification to remind you about these events

There's definitely a paper copy. At least in September, on Getaway, there was. I don't think they've been discontinued. I appreciate the paper copy, and that is what I uploaded on my live, as it's more convenient to look at while on the couch, on the throne, or just hanging out on the balcony. I don't carry my phone with me, but I know the Freestyle Daily is in my room. I don't take it out of the room as there's honestly not a lot of activities that interest me.

I hadn't heard that they stopped printing the port maps.  Is this still the case?  I liked to have them if only to get that initial "lay of the land".

Does that mean they also got rid of the "port talks", aka the hour long advertisement for Diamonds International, Cariloha, and Del-Sol?  Won't miss those if they are gone 😉

Port talks were alive and well on my cruise. No clue what they talked about. I know about them as I'd flip through the TV to suddenly find someone talking about some sale that I didn't care about. Quickly returned to watching the ocean pass me by.

As everyone is saying, yes, the Freestyle Daily is still provided in print form to your room.

Very grateful they do, as I don't want to fuss with my phone at any time during a cruise unless I have to....it's kinda of clunky carrying it around the ship (in my opinion).

All I want on me is my key card, money for tips and the casino, and a drink in my hand.

Anyway, what I have found has changed since covid is that extra copies of the Freestyle Daily are kind of difficult to get.  In the before times, it used to be displayed and fairly easy to get down around Guest Services....for those occasions that you are WAY away from your room and wanted to see what was up....

Well, that's not the case any longer.  You really have to scrounge and ask someone to find a precious copy.  Sometimes now, I tear the the one page off, fold it into a manageable size, and add it to my carrying kit (of card, money, and drink....you get the drill)...
