Rare Silver Spectre Posted April 5, 2022 #1 Share Posted April 5, 2022 For those long time SS cruisers who enjoyed travelling with David Lawton it has been announced that after a long illness he passed last Thursday. He has gone to join his long time colleague Judy. We met him on a number of cruises in the early 2000’s, enjoyed his company and jokes, and his deep welsh singing voice. Always a gentleman, even if he did wear red socks.

David being the ultimate gentleman - Judy a lady but also a "broad", and I know she would agree. Often quote her: "I'm glad I saw the world before we ruined it."
Emtbsam Posted April 6, 2022 #4 Share Posted April 6, 2022 We also had the pleasure of cruising several times with David. He was a true gentleman, a wonderful cruise director and a good entertainer. Condolences to his family.
Mayflower1 Posted April 6, 2022 #5 Share Posted April 6, 2022 We are so sad to learn of David's death - Our thoughts are with his Wife and young Family. Those of us who have been Members of the Silversea Family for many years have been fortunate to meet and get to know a remarkable Quartet of Cruise Directors : Judy, Colin, David & Ray. Each had a wonderful Performing Talent but also the ability to make Guests so welcome from the minute we stepped On Board. We hope that you will Sail in calm waters for ever David.

saminina Posted April 8, 2022 #12 Share Posted April 8, 2022 Joe's recent cruise history came up in conversation with crew two weeks ago. They certainly did not know of his passing. Had a private dinner with David that has proven to be quite memorable over time.

We especially got to know Susan/Duct Tape during our first Silversea cruise, Copenhagen to Copenhagen, 15 wonderful days up and down the Norway Coast on the Silver Cloud. The staff did love her and her husband. Had the good fortunate to sit next to her at a special breakfast with the Captain, etc. Below is a picture. Excellent experience. Great memories!! THANKS! Enjoy! Terry in Ohio Norway Coast/Fjords/Arctic Circle cruise from Copenhagen, July 2010, to the top of Europe. Scenic visuals with key tips. The Captain is at the left. Also shown are the Executive Chef, Hotel Director, dining room manager, etc. Recognize some of these Silversea stars?: (Open your screen/viewer wider to see this visual larger/better!) 2

Rare flyers Posted April 10, 2022 #17 Share Posted April 10, 2022 How Sad and thank you Silver Spectre we had no idea that David Lawton was unwell and passed away... We spent many fun moments with him over the years both on and off the ships. He had a sense of humor and a treasure trove of antidotes that could never be duplicated...he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Attached are some photos of him taken on the Whisper and in St.Lucia also pictured is Captain Tutulli who is no longer with Silversea.
