NoName Posted April 24, 2022 #1 Share Posted April 24, 2022 Returned home from the Adventure of the Seas on the 20th and since I didn't find many posts about this ship prior to sailing, thought I would post a few thoughts. First the negatives...... 1) Hated the new process to enter the buffet....they have replaced the hand sanitizer process I am used to with 8 hand washing stations as you first go in the door. While I am not opposed to the concept, I like that everyone is washing their hands I feel they need to rethink this process as it sometimes caused HUGE lines that snaked out to the pool deck. I have never had such a wait to enter a buffet in all my many years of cruising. Additionally, the faucets contain hand drying stations.....This blows the germs around....poor choice during a pandemic..... Also...those that skipped the hand sanitizer stations....also manage to skip the handwashing stations as well...... 2) 2 of the soda machines are located in the buffet.....however you are not allowed to enter the buffet area when the buffet is closed. This leaves only one soda machine to service the entire ship. (Also can't get to the other drink stations (lemonade, coffee etc). 3) Waterslides...don't know if it was just a slow day...but I gave the slides a try on day one. I thought I was going to get stuck.....ridiculously slow. I had no desire to ride this again....nor did my 11 year old grandson. Now the positives...... 1) Our cabin steward kept our room in tip top shape...had great service in this area! 2) Our dining rooms meals were really good. Enjoyed quick, efficient service. 3) Our cabin had the best balcony of my life! Grab those corner aft cabins on deck 7 if you can....heaven on earth! 4) Love the new muster drill process...so much better. Overall...wonderful relaxing vacation. So glad that cruising is back! RockHoundTX Posted April 24, 2022 #3 Share Posted April 24, 2022 You must have been wearing the wrong clothes on the slides or they had significantly reduced water pressure for some reason. In December, they were SUPER fast. My kids absolutely loved them. By far the fastest slides of any of the dozen or so ships we have been on. So much so that you have to be really careful on the one slide due to the large drop at the end when going so fast it slings you into the air (wife popped her back on that one). I would get going so fast that I had to struggle to keep from flipping me over on the turns. That being said, if you are wearing a typical nylon sun shirt, it has way too much friction and slow you down by about 80% and you will probably get stuck. I always bring extra swim clothes just to see which shorts are the fastest (I have not found a shirt that is faster than no shirt and pulling in your shoulder blades). Yeah, I am one of those old guys that loved doing the slide speed contest when they used to have them 6+ years ago 😉 Glad to hear the MDR food is still good on Adventure. I was great in December (actually better than pre-Covid). Whomever the head Chef is needs to teach their tricks to the other ships (been on a couple of other ships since then where the food was very disappointing).

Trailcon Posted April 24, 2022 #6 Share Posted April 24, 2022 DW and I are on Adventure for the first time 5/31. This is my first casino comp cruise. I am sincerely hoping this becomes a regular thing with us. Our four previous cruises were on the Anthem two before shutdown and two after. It has always had the hand wash station outside the windjammer.
TX JAM Posted April 26, 2022 #7 Share Posted April 26, 2022 We just got off the Adventure on Monday the 25th of April, the ship and trip were outstanding! We had been on the Adventure, same cruise in November. The entertainment in the Schooner bar and the Duck and the Dog pub were much better than in November. We had a much larger crowd on the ship, but mostly no major tie ups except the casino and the 70's party. Housekeeping and MDR staff were outstanding. The slide only had one slide working, but it was definitely not slow at all, almost flipped over on a couple of curves and at about 190 lbs, almost airborn at the bottom. Windjammer sinks not a big issue, but we were not there at peak time, the lines could back up, we waited a very short time. The service by staff on the buffet felt safer on our November cruise, and yes, some people unfortunately skipped the wash stations. It was nice to have more passenger interaction than in November, we met a bunch of great people on the trip. Drinks and bar staff, outstanding! Very happy to be cruising and the staff on the ship did a great job.

TBF, getting launched off the back of the boat really fast sounds fun, though (until you hit the water like a brick and get left behind).
TX JAM Posted April 28, 2022 #11 Share Posted April 28, 2022 It looked like that picture when we were aboard last November, the scary shot to the open sea as the ship sails away, yikes!
cementhands Posted April 28, 2022 #12 Share Posted April 28, 2022 How about activities onboard! Any dancing, theme parties, Zumba, line dancing? Asking for the wife. Going on adventure of the seas soon. Thanks, if you have any information.
