Sitka Docking

Just read an article stating that there was a minor accident in Sitka on May 7 that damaged part of the dock for cruise ships, and that only 1 can dock at a time now.  Going on Ovation on August 7.  Ovation will be in Sitka on that Tuesday - are there any other cruise ships in Sitka at that time?

For the Ovation last week, they took turns. So the Ovation docked and let people off from 10 am to 1 pm I believe, then it went out to see and a Celebrity ship came and let people off. Anyone who wanted to go back to Ovation after that had to tender. Sounds like much less of a hassle than if everyone had to tender both ways all day.

I’m currently on the Radiance. They cancelled Sitka and substituted Icy Point.

Probably the docking situation. Maybe other ship in port is larger and didn't want to do the tender thing with Radiance or Radiance didn't want to tender.

Just left Sitka yesterday on Serenade of the Seas.  She docked about 5-6 miles from downtown.  Free bus to downtown, about 10 minutes or so.  Nice little town.  Try the reindeer hot dog - delicious.

Where did you get the reindeer hot dog?

Don’t know about them… but you might try Reindeer Redhots cart.

Radiance is the one that broke it.    They may not want them back.
 

it was a pretty significant accident and that berth is expected to be out of service for weeks to months for repairs.
