B2B now requires Covid testing. What happens if??

We were notified this evening that as B2B cruisers (Voyager) we must be tested for Covid on June 15. This is a change since late April when B2B testing was NOT required. We are fine, but have heard of others who felt fine and tested positive. I understand the quarantine policy, and we will have the choice to stay together or separate. Are we eligible for a pro-rated refund or FCC or would this be an insurance claim? I cannot find anything from RSSC about this particular issue. And just when I thought the testing anxiety was over!

I got the information from my TA via a Regent rep. I have the email. On RSSC.com, the wording is that testing is not done routinely, only if deemed necessary by ship personnel. Now I’m worried there might be a lot of Covid on board and that’s why they are doing it.

Unless policy changes we will have to test in our b2b  Miami to Miami total 17 days. This was the policy when book serval months ago. Quarantine or get off ship after testing positive. Becomes an insurance issue. For us if pilicy doesn’t change before final payment we will cancel second segment. But I know that doesn’t you.

I have been watching this closely. The problem is that everyone must be tested beginning each new segment per Regent. From reports on CC that is where most of the Covid positive tests show up and the passengers for the most part don’t really feel sick. Risk of a b2b in current climate. The rules need to be up dated to reality …. Follow Vikings lead Regent.

Our cruise is technically a B2B, but some people were able to book it as one segment. I wanted to change ours to avoid this stress, but was assured we would not have to test “in between”. We had a wait list situation which is why we ended up with two segments. It’s confusing for sure!

+1.  It wouldn’t make sense not to test at the beginning of each segment when booked as a single multi segment cruise. Otherwise, people who book the entire world cruise would only be tested once at the beginning of the cruise and would not be tested again during the ensuing four months of the cruise.

We found it helpful to bring our own Covid rapid tests onboard with us, so that we could self monitor as necessary.  This can take some of the “stress” out of being surprised by the result of the official/mandatory Regent test.  I would rather know in advance so I can be prepared. We did the same thing for the pre-embarkation test - we did our own rapid test at home the same morning as we had the “official” Regent observed test.  This reduced some of that anxiety over the result of the test.

I think Regent also needs to be clear what the consequences of a positive test will be.  I was on the Mariner last month, and it was never clear to me what would happen if someone came up with a positive test either during the cruise or on the last day of the cruise before disembarking.

From past posts on CC, guests have been quarantined either in their cabin or moved to a cabin in a different location on the ship.  The length of the quarantine presumably has changed over time.

Unfortunately, I can now answer this question, at least for Voyager. I felt ill last evening, worse this morning. I called medical, they sent someone to test me and my husband. I was positive and thankfully he is negative. We had the option to quarantine together, but I am praying he stays negative so I moved to a Covid suite. We did not have the option to quarantine in our original suite, but after it is sanitized in the morning, he can move back in. He is in yet another suite for the night. We were told the quarantine suites have had upgraded air filtration. The furniture is all vinyl, easier to clean. Two people is hazmat suits escorted me with a medical staff member. The man behind me was puffing disinfect. They carried my bags, and the process was quite smooth. My husband will be tested daily for 3 days I think, might be a few more, I really don’t remember, but he is free to move about the ship, go to restaurants and shows if he wishes. He can go on excursions too. I will be tested June 20 and if negative I can move back to our original suite. If not, I will be in here until we dock in Southampton June 23. Don’t ask me how we will pack if we aren’t together! I have been told I can order food from any restaurant but I really have no appetite right now. Maybe in a day or two. The doctor has already called and told me I would have a temperature check daily and any cold medicine I need. I travel with a small drug store, so I’m fine. I asked about Paxlovid; it has been ordered for the ship but has not been delivered yet. 
 

I’m pretty sad about this, but we knew it was a possibility and decided to take the chance. I’ve had a great cruise so far and we had a wonderful stay in Barcelona. Ask questions, I’ll do my best to answer.

Sorry to hear that you are sick. That is every cruisers nightmare right now. Hope you feel better soon and test negative as soon as possible. Also that your husband doesn’t get sick.

Let us know how you are feeling and how they are treating you.

Wow - my first thought is that I am sure we all wish you a fast recovery!

So - it seems a positive Covid test = 7 days in quarantine then a re-test. That is better than the 10 days it was a few months ago!

I knew I was sick enough to call. It didn’t feel like allergies. And the symptoms are worse today than yesterday. Feels like a bad sinus cold. Meanwhile, some ship is near us honking their horn every few minutes. Not sure what’s up, but I really need to sleep!

Hello, I didn't want to take away from mdunne48 terrific live review and pictures so reopening this thread. As we are boarding the Voyager next weekend, we were curious whether the Regent ship doctors have received Paxlovid to prescribe to passengers who unfortunately get COVID onboard? Thank you!

Paxlovid is available. You will be charged $800 for it.
