rideev Posted June 25, 2022 #1 Share Posted June 25, 2022 On Princess.com I see this for my upcoming cruise. It is under the onboard reservations tab. What did I do to get this? And is it for real? How do I utilize it? Thanks
Rare roxievegas Posted June 25, 2022 #2 Share Posted June 25, 2022 If it is showing up on your Travel Summary, once on board the ship, go to the casino. Pick a slot machine, create an account and it will show up as "free play" - or go to the casino cage to verify.
Rare azbirdmom Posted June 25, 2022 #3 Share Posted June 25, 2022 The VIP usually indicates that there should be a casino VIP event happening on your cruise and you're invited to it. You should have gotten an email or regular mailer with details about it. If that is the case, there will be details in your cabin when you board and you may get additional goodies.
Belle Posted June 25, 2022 #4 Share Posted June 25, 2022 Go to the cage they will check list to see if you're on it and for how much. Will ask if want for the slots or for table play. If slots will put on the machine, if for table will give you chips (plastic) but will give you real chips as you win.
SomewhereGirl Posted June 25, 2022 #5 Share Posted June 25, 2022 Thank you for starting this thread. I have a considerable amount of casino freeplay on my upcoming sailing. I play slots. Does the freeplay stay in a separate "bank"? Say I download $20, and win on some spins, do the winnings go into a separate "bank"? In other casinos where I've had freeplay, if I hit something I'd "cash out" those winnings onto a ticket. The freeplay amount that was downloaded still had to be exhausted on that machine. Will that still be the case with the Medallion? I hope this makes sense.

If you win using free play and cash out, the winnings go into your normal casino account. Then you can collect the winnings at the casino cashier like any other. Rare roxievegas Posted June 25, 2022 #8 Share Posted June 25, 2022 I am assuming that the OP played in the casino and they were given the promotion free play . If you play in the casino (which we do on sea days) you will get offers in the future - some good, some bad and some really good
Mike45LC Posted June 25, 2022 #9 Share Posted June 25, 2022 In my experience, the free play is kept “on” the central computer. You move some free play credits to a particular machine to play. Whenever you cash out of that particular machine, your winnings are credited to your cash account and any free play not used is returned to your separate free play account. I am not a slot player, but my wife is. I am pretty sure this is how it worked.

I asked on my last sailing as Royal Caribbean usually will give you some free play on the first day. The Princess casino manager was very curt with me so I left. I was planning to play quite a bit of video poker but not with a manager who has no time to answer a question decently.

If you're a slot player, you should see it on the slot machine when you set up your account. Then you'll see a choice to use free play or your bank. If you don't see it or if you're a table player, go to the casino cage. Since this isn't something you were aware of, you should definitely take along the document that shows the free play. I had qualified for $500 in free play for the "Ultimate VIP" event last month. When I went to the slot machine only $300 appeared. I went to the Executive Host and she was able to fix it so that the right amount appeared on the machine.

I have been given this on a couple of cruises but they were a casino cruise, which entitled me to a discount... Nothing like the free cruises though! Invitations to the VIP events can be made with a free or discounted cabin. This is what our free play looks like for a free cruise that doesn't have a VIP event happening: And this is what it looked like for our last cruise (and one on the Majestic last August) which had a VIP event happening onboard. These cruises were both discounted: I still believe that the OP has free play on a discounted cruise on which a VIP event is being held. By the way, it's been my experience that if I pay a discounted rate, the free play is higher and if I sail in a free cabin, the free play is lower.
MsSoCalCruiser Posted June 27, 2022 #14 Share Posted June 27, 2022 Does anyone know what this Special Event is? Usually it just says free play and to redeem at the casino.

According to the email I received , there are 7 cruises with the slot tournaments and those must be booked by July 27. There are 2 cruises with the blackjack tournaments and that also has a book by date of July 27.

Rare roxievegas Posted June 28, 2022 #17 Share Posted June 28, 2022 We just got off a slot tournament cruise. Ruby Princess - 10 day out of SF. My husband got the offer, so he got to participate in the slot tournament. He did not want to, but did, because the offer was not available to me (don't know why, we both play and are equal in our playing time and money) Out of 220 players, he came in 50th place - money was paid out 1st - 48th - so he won no money. We are both in a slot tournament in Jan 2023.

I don’t remember seeing an email about one. Thanks so much. I went to one a few years ago. It used to be that folks who won the $20 slot tournaments that used to be held on every cruise were invited to a big tournament every year. I think they also invited some of the "high rollers" too but I got in because I won one of the tournaments. For the big tourney, they assigned people times to play the first round. You beat the heck our of the buttons and the scores were recorded with the highest scores qualifying for the next round. I had a terrible machine and so after my three minutes I was done. That machine didn't do well for anyone and was very tight but it's all luck. I'm fairly certain that the top 5 won money, with the highest scorer winning $35,000. Not sure if this is how they will do these but here's more verbiage from the email, and you can probably call to find out the rest of the details of your offer: "What's better than the sound of a winning pull in our friendliest casino at sea? How about big plays and unforgettable moments. Anytime from fall 2022 to spring 2023, choose to join six slot tournaments with prizes totaling $25,000 each cruise or compete for a share of $100,000 on our grand prize tournament cruise — exploring the Panama Canal, the Caribbean and the Mexican Riviera as you play for a share of the $250,000 pot."
