Is Surf internet sufficient for calling home on a Med cruise?

We'll be on the Vision of the Seas for a Med cruise in August.  I need to be able to call home because of elderly parents.  Does anyone have experience with wifi calling using Surf in the Med?  I don't plan on streaming videos so I only purchased the Surf package, not Surf & Stream.  Any experience with calling home using Surf in the Med is appreciated.

For just voice calls you'll be fine.

Med cruises tend to be port intensive,  so many times,  you'll be within range of shore cells, so your roaming package may work for you.

I was just going to ask this very same question.  I don't really "stream" but do a lot of WhatsApp and other platform chats.  Every now and then I make a call but not frequently.  I should be fine with just the Surf package as opposed to the Surf and Stream, correct?  Thanks.

We have used the Voom surf and stream on both our Meds.  We also have elderly parents.  We have used FaceTime and WhatsApp on both.  It can be a tough at times, but we managed.  We found it best outside on balcony or outside deck.  Our cabin was hit or miss.

The Wi-Fi in the Med is appalling. Go to a bar on shore and use their free Wi-Fi !
