Lots of chatter about this small hamlet of less than 300 residents.  Personally I found it lovely even if the walk alongside the waterfall was very steep!! Photo taken from the ship.

As a general question , how long is the walk (at a steady pace) from the ship to the bridge in your photo? Thanks

It is 400 yards. If you want to go to the top of the waterfall I recommend taking the path to the right of the bridge. it is a steep gradient but you can return via the more gentle slope past the church. Don't do it the other way as walking down that steep incline can be dangerous.

The bridge is a public road so be careful of traffic. The vehicles drive slowly but cruise passengers spread over the road not paying attention can cause an accident. On my visit a lady had a collision with a car.

Thanks for the very useful information, all we need is the lovely weather that was evident in the photo

I walk with a stick and it took me about 10 minutes from the ship to the waterfall. Walking up the very steep road on the right of the waterfall was a different matter!! I had to stop several times to catch my breath so it took about 15 minutes. Was it worth it ? Absolutely, the views on both sides of the road are very impressive. Go back the other way which is not as steep and you can also stop for a while at the little church.  We were very lucky to have fabulous weather and, in fact, the whole week the sun shone. Hopefully you be as lucky.

I do hope so as our last visit to Norway was spoilt by a lot of wet and misty weather ( in June 2018), fingers crossed 👍as we also have some first time cruisers with us
