keokukjoe Posted July 10, 2022 #1 Share Posted July 10, 2022 Does the SSBP include the "special tastings" that are noted on the Viking Dailies? I know that it is an extra charge if one doesn't have this package.

TayanaLorna Posted July 10, 2022 #3 Share Posted July 10, 2022 On our last cruise, one wine tasting was included and the other "premium" french wine tasting was not. The Armagnac tasting also was not included also. I think it depends on the premium level of the alcohol tasting. Check with the Guest Services desk when you get on board. Free to SSBP holders fills quickly.
Rare FetaCheese Posted July 10, 2022 #4 Share Posted July 10, 2022 I noticed that a 15% discount is applied to beverages above $50, if SSBP is purchased. Andy, do you, or anyone else, know if that applies to bottle purchases (wine, champagne, spirits, etc.). If it does apply, (on Torshavn menu previously posted -- if current pricing -- in another topic) a bottle of Veuve Clicquot Brut), would be USD $70 less 15% = USD $59.50 net. On current Living room Menu, it's listed at $82 -- net of 15% = $69.70 . Both prices just a little bit more than price for VC-Yellow label sold locally at retail for $61.47 (incl. tax). Also, for price comparison, is VC that Viking sells yellow label? If so, very fine Viking pricing. Thanks.

We only ever purchased bottles of wine, as when we requested full bottles of spirits for the cabin, they were delivered free. We did receive the discount on the bottles of wine purchased. When comparing ship and shore prices, even when the ship's price is comparable to store price ashore, we need to remember the ship's price still includes a huge markup. Back in my days, we purchased Moet for about UK Sterling 2 and Dom Perignon was really expensive at UK Sterling 3 or 4. Prices have certainly increased, but even 10 yrs ago our son was paying less the $8 for 30 oz bottle.

I wasn't aware that a passenger with the SSBP could order "full bottles" of spirits and that they were delivered free to the cabin. Is that correct? Thanks again. They also had whiskey and, I think it was a gin tasting, but I don't know if they were included.

Err - haven't you answered your own question? If there's a charge if you don't have the package, it implies there is no charge if you do have the package.
