mirglip69 Posted July 13, 2022 #1 Share Posted July 13, 2022 Anyone heard details of the Miracle dry dock scheduled for October 2022? Sailing her in January 2023 to Hawaii and curious what upgrades may be added.
EarloftheSeas Posted July 13, 2022 #2 Share Posted July 13, 2022 If I'm not mistaken (someone will correct, I'm sure) the dry dock is for a propulsion issue. The 2015 drydock added a Red Frog Pub, Alchemy Bar and Cherry on Top -- more recently (2020) Guy's Burgers and Blue Iguana were added to the lido deck, along with Blue Iguana Tequila Bar and Red Frog Rum Bar. And waterworks was upgraded with an amazing plunge slide! Enjoy your cruise. Miracle was my first cruise in 2015 for a big family wedding and always holds a special place in my heart!
Rare TxTeach79 Posted July 13, 2022 #3 Share Posted July 13, 2022 Just got off of Miracle.... I don't know anything for sure, but the obvious candidates are the screen on lido and Bonsai down on deck 2. We'll see! She's a great ship! 2

Yep...... We were on Holland America in Alaska recently and Miracle docked right after we did. She obviously didn't have full maneuverability since she had to be helped in with tug boats. We'll be on Miracle in September going to Hawaii and are really looking forward to it as the Spirit class are my favorite ships. mz-s Posted July 13, 2022 #5 Share Posted July 13, 2022 Since COVID as Carnival struggles with losing millions per month, their drydocks have been limited to whatever they're required to do to keep the ships seaworthy. They've also been giving the ships the new livery. So I wouldn't expect anything to be added. They're not even replacing worn/stained carpeting.

It was my 31st cruise and sixth Carnival ship and now has become my favorite. I am no fan of the larger ships such as Vista which has all the character and charm of a hospital corridor. Loved the fact that the Miracle had short if any lines for the food venues, uncrowded elevators and a distinctive look I found to be far more interesting than the newer ships. My only complaint is the same as with all Carnival ships concerning casino slots which is too many of certain types of machines and too few of the Tower machines. Unfortunately, I will continue to cruise out of Galveston due to location and will be seeing more of the Vista and not enough of the Miracle.

We had tug boat assistance in both of our ports as well.

The Miracle needed a tug boat to spin around, so probably something wrong with the side thrusters.

Carnival wasn't happy with the results when they added the screen to Pride.
Colorado Cruzer Posted July 15, 2022 #10 Share Posted July 15, 2022 We're on Miracle 12/18 so hoping they do some updates but I doubt it. If the ship can just make it to where we need to go, I guess that is the goal of this dry dock.

I don't believe that is correct, I was on Spirit shortly after her return earlier this year and every last bit of upholstery and carpet was brand spanking new. She was in fantastic condition. As far as Miracle's drydock, they're for sure repairing her thrusters (which is why her drydock was moved up). I just got off Miracle at the end of last week and everything seemed to be in pretty good condition, so I'm not too sure what else they plan on doing. dallasdan Posted October 26, 2022 #13 Share Posted October 26, 2022 Now that the Miracle is in Dry Dock. Does anyone know if they are doing anything more than maintenance and painting?

Does anyone know if they are doing anything more than maintenance and painting? This keeps popping up in random threads, but all that’s been confirmed is that that it will receive routine maintenance and an updated livery. There’s speculation that Carnival is attempting to fix a mechanical issue, but JH denied that and said they’re simply moving routine work to a less busy time of year. A couple users claim it’s getting Shaq’s Big Chicken, but there’s no credible source and it seems extremely unlikely as Carnival just upgraded the Miracle 2.5 years ago, and is seemingly dodging any major enhancements status quo. I’d bet against it, and I’ll be on the ship in a few weeks…
Moviela Posted October 27, 2022 #15 Share Posted October 27, 2022 One of the food and beverage managers on Miracle said he was promised new floors and carpet in the dining rooms. She is my next ship for our annual Hawaii cruise in November. Our recent trip to AK on Miracle did not seem to have any mechanical issues. Needs a little paint outside, but I did not see any serious cosmetic issues.

The thrusters have been non-functional for quite a while, necessitating the use of tugboats getting in and out of port. I'm not sure what it costs to hire tugboats but it can't be cheap. I'd read quite a while ago that repair of the thrusters was the reason that Miracle's scheduled drydock got moved up.

That’s pure speculation within this forum. JH denied it, and said they were simply expediting the dry dock to a slower time of the year. October is a slow month, and the Paradise dry dock was accelerated to Oct 2023, so his comments make sense.
