Hi, I have a very specific question! When the cruise ship is approaching St Lucia - does it cruise past the Pitons?

Usually not. You would have to go on an excursion.

The Pitons are quite a long way from Castries where I guess the ship is heading to.  As the ship is likely to be a distance out to sea and it's unlikely it will be hugging the coastline I'd be very surprised if you would see the Pitons even if approaching from the south.

 

As Gettingwarmer says, an excursion is the way to go.  Cosol Tours has some great reviews as many on here would confirm if you want a private tour company.

No. You have to take a boat or a long bus ride on a tour to get there.

Take a local taxi or tour company. Live volcanic activities are wonderful. Steam and sulphur smell. It’s beautiful.

Depends where you're coming from. If you're heading north on your sailing - nope, you won't see them, particularly as you'd be passing early morning.

If you're heading south or to Barbados after - most ships often sail down the west coast, near enough to see them from a distance. Not a great view - but it's there.
