Recommended Posts

Leaving out of the White Bay Terminal February 2023. Suggestions for hotels near the port or ones that have shuttle service to White Bay. Arriving in Sydney the day before ship sails. Restaurants, things todo etc. recommendations.

There doesn't seem to be much in the way of accommodation on that side of Anzac Bridge. Darling Harbour might be your best bet, and either taxi, or this mob https://shireshuttlebus.com.au/sydney-cruise-terminal-shuttle-bus/.

Yes agree.  Darling Harbour for accommodation, dining, fun things to do... then cab it to White Bay which is about 2-3 klms away.

Not sure that mob does city pick-ups. Geared for Botany & da Shire. No harm in asking, but not sure there is much of a price difference between two shuttle fares and a cab though.

Darling Harbour hotels are a bit cheaper, but we prefer the city as it is more convenient for us, close to a train station. Cab fare from the city is an extra $5 to $10 over Darling Harbour, depending on traffic.

Things to do? What do you like to do? Are you coming from overseas or interstate?

Haven Inn at Glebe is about as close at it gets. Cheaper too, and on Glebe Point Rd, one of Sydney's original eat streets. Rather inconvenient for anything else though, and still a cab fare away from White Bay. We have walked from there to Darling Harbour, but my wife suggested we shouldn't do that ever again.

Or once you book accomodation see if your hotel offers a shuttle from the airport, some do. But yea Taxi is my first pick and often costs less than a shuttle if there are a couple of you.

How long are you in Sydney? Darling harbour is great for one or two nights, but the extra on a cab to White Bay, would be worth it to me if it is any longer to stay more in the city.

It is worth looking at the whole deal, price of accommodation and taxi fare and location for other things

Thanks for the information. Looks like a Taxi is the answer. We are from the US (Florida). From the airport taxi also?

Not so much. If you don't mind a shuttle, there is one to the main city hotels, and another that does the airport hotels.

One reasonably cheap option is a hotel shuttle to one of the Mascot hotels.  Sydney airport Holiday Inn is a short walk away from Mascot rail station for a cheap train trip to Circular Quay (Opera House, ferries, best views in Sydney, cafes, restaurants). Mascot station doesn't have additional loading on the ticket prices, but the airport station does.

On cruise day, a cab fare from Mascot to White Bay isn't a whole lot more than from the city.

Super Shuttle does airport to airport hotels, airport to Darling Harbour hotels, airport to cruise terminals - just not hotels to cruise terminals.

Con x ion, among others, will do airport to city hotels

If you only have the day before the ship sails from Sydney, I would book a hotel in Circular Quay or The Rocks. This will give you easy access to a harbour ferry ride (public transport, just use a credit card to tap on), and easy walking distance around the harbour to the Opera House.  Stay out in the open during the day to fend off the jet lag. Lots of places to eat in that area.

The taxi fare to White Bay will be an extra $A5 or so than from Darling Harbour area.
