Pinboy Posted August 23, 2022 #1 Share Posted August 23, 2022 Of the four main dining restaurants on the Edge ( Normandie , Cosmopolitan , Tuscan and Cyprus ) which are your favorites ? I do understand that they are all different, but would like to hear some thoughts on menu selection, ambiance, service, popularity , and how/whether to tip extra ( as in Specialty restaurants ). Even though our gratuities are prepaid ( included ), and we can chose to eat in any one of them, similar to dining in a Specialty restaurant, we always leave a tip for our Server and would like to hear some opinions on the above. jelayne Posted August 23, 2022 #2 Share Posted August 23, 2022 Each have a different decor but you can order any of the restaurant specialty dishes in the others. So you can be seated in Tuscan and order a specialty entree from the Normandie menu. So in reality the menus are all the same. If we have had good service we tip extra in our assigned dining room. As for the specialty restaurants since Celebrity has added a 18% gratuity to the price of the dinner I doubt we will tip above that.

Are Guests assigned to a specific dining room if they are on Select ( Anytime ) dining ? I understand the Specialty restaurants re the 18 % add-on, but am a bit confused re the 4 main dining options where we can eat in a different one every night. Can I assume we leave a tip every night in whichever restaurant we eat in ?
jelayne Posted August 23, 2022 #4 Share Posted August 23, 2022 IF you have Select dining you are not assigned a dining room. You can make reservations in the Cruise Planner if you would like. Do do that go to the Specialty Dining section of the Planner and scroll to the end and your will find the 4 restaurants. Many find they prefer 1 of the MDRs or the waiter in 1 and have most dinners there, so thats where they tip. But nothing to prevent you from from tipping each evening.

The fact that there's 4 separate rooms shouldn't make any difference.
Rare hcat Posted August 23, 2022 #6 Share Posted August 23, 2022 We prefer Tuscan and the Greek because they are smaller...but enjoy all 4. We reserve ahead for early time..always get a nice window view ..and enjoy our neal while it is still quiet!

Correct--- I think the best thing to do , because we " might " not eat in the same dining room every night, would be to tip after each meal rather than wait until the end of the cruise as we do when eating in the same dining room all week. I never have nor would I find ( ?? ) an excuse to " stiff " a Server --- One day I'll express my feelings about people that spend $$$$ to go on a cruise and not treat ( $$ ) the Staff or even worse-- remove the Gratuities !!!! Even if you eat in the same dining room every night, you will likely have different wait staff each night. So one MDR or multiple MDRs makes no difference as far as extra tipping strategies.
Rare NutsAboutGolf Posted August 23, 2022 #9 Share Posted August 23, 2022 Was on the Edge in July '21. Made reservations every night but one night we decided to do trivia and missed a reservation. When we arrived at 8pm, we were surprised to be told it was a 45min wait, so we asked if they can check the other MDRs, they could and two didn't have any waits. Just something to keep in mind. 3

Thanks for the information. Each of the 4 does have a theme for decor and a small section of the menu, called the “Exclusives “. The menus have 3 sections: The “Celebrity Classics”, the fleet wide portion that remains the same every night. The “Signature” section, which is the typical rotational schedule. The “Exclusives”, unique to each restaurant’s theme. It is comprised of 3 starters, 3 mains and 1 dessert. As noted earlier, you can usually request an item(s) off another’s menu.
