On Marina now

We were on in May and will be back on board in January in Buenos Aires. She does not look bad at all as O does not let their ships go to the dogs. The big Update is more to give her a complete new look, just like you doing a major remodel of your home because your DW decides to give your home a Contemporary look.
We will have friends boarding in December so we will get an update from them and share the info.

Haven't been on Marina for about 5 years and see it'll go in for refurbishment after my July 23rd cruise so I'm wondering how does it look, e.g. signs of wear and tear, etc.

We thought the ship looked beautiful and saw no signs of wear and tear. They had applied new varnish to the railings on and about the pool deck right before we boarded, so I think they must try to keep up with things like that.

Dominic will be on Marina until he gets off in Amsterdam September 27th. Then Marc Warmenhoven will come on as GM through the Fall season.

Anyone know if Dominic will be back on Marina (and if so, when).  I'm on board from December 17 to January 8 and then again from late February until it returns to Miami.  Dominic is great to work with....

They usually  do 2 or 3 mths stints  then time off  so depending  on if he gets 2 mths off or 3  you can work  out his schedule  to a point  LOL

He is  the BEST  GM   IMO

Does Marina casino have a craps table, and if so, what is the minimum line bet?

I was just on Riviera, Marina'a sister ship.  They had a full size craps table with $5 minimum.

Thanks for the reference.  5% is really outrageous given the house advantage to begin with.  I note that you can send a cash advance to the casino and play off those funds without incurring the 5% fee.  My question is:  If you have a cash balance at the end of the cruise, I assume you could collect from the cashier just like any winnings.  Am I correct?

I just  take cash for my Casino donations

But AFAIK  if  you have a refundable balance at the end of the cruise  you will get cash back at reception

They send you a letter last day of the cruise

If you put the money into your account it is refundable   as opposed to if it was given by the cruise line as a perk then non refundable

I think it’s Dec 18th not 17th?  We go Miami to Buenos Aires.  Christmas on the Amazon. See you then.

We have an early (16:00) sail away from Gijon on 10/20. Why don’t we plan to meet in Horizons for Happy Hour at 5:00.

We’ll probably be there a bit earlier , if that suits you, to catch the sail away, plus it will be getting dark early.

What say Yee?

Oh, we have so much to discuss, PL.

Will you be on board for the 2/7 Santiago to Buenos Aires Cruise?

No -- I'm on Marina from Miami to Buenos Aires, then home for about a month, then back on board in Buenos Aires for "Around the Horn" to Lima and through the Panama Canal back to Miami.

Boarding Regent Seven Seas Mariner on Monday for three LA-Mexico-LA cruises followed by LA to Lima.  Home on November 21st -- so about four weeks at home before boarding Marina in Miami in December.

It has been ages since I was on Oceania.  When I was last on the verandah cabins had DVD players in them and a great DVD library to choose from at the front desk.  Is that still the case?  Thanks

This was NOT the case on the Riviera from August to September.....as my hubby had taken tons of surgery procedures on DVD's to study up on new/updated techniques....and there ended up being NO way to view them on board.  This despite our poor butler even asking the captain if he had an "extra" laptop with CD viewer...lol!

Only options are all on the television system and include a few "new releases" which are neither new nor news worthy.....and "classics" which are just OLD.....so don't plan on the DVD option for movie viewing.
