Is there something at LL Bean in Maine that’s not in a local store?

That less-than-subtle down east attitude of scorn for flatlanders like us. 😁

I could tell a story about the time the Maine State Police had to spirit me out of a hearing being held at the Maine State House in Augusta, but I won't...😄

To my friends in Maine...I love your state...been there many times...even honeymooned there .

It was just a question to decide if I should pay a visit since I’ve been to the LL Bean in New Jersey many times.
Sorry you misunderstood my question. There was no disrespect intended.

I didn't misunderstand what you said. You misunderstood my response...I was joking. Why do you think I used the 😁 and 😄 emojis?

Yes, it's worth a visit. The LL Bean campus in Freeport has more than one building. There are some interesting things in the flagship store, including a small trout pond wrapping around the main staircase, a big aquarium with a small bubble underneath that children can stand in and see the fish, and two stuffed moose who died when their antlers got stuck together.

I have been to LL Bean stores in other places, and they don't compare at all to the one in Freeport. It's 96,000+ square feet over multiple levels. Until Covid hit, Bean's was open 24/7/365 and had no locks on its doors.

Furthermore, Freeport has lots of outlet stores and several wonderful local restaurants.

If it were me, I would rather wander around the Old Port in Portland, but if you're into shopping or really want to see the Bean's flagship store, Freeport is definitely worth it.

I hope this is a little more helpful!

Very helpful!

That sounds like the Bass Pro Shop we went to in Memphis. We’ve been to plenty of them all over. But this one stood out like no other. It had a pond that ran through the store. It even had hotel rooms you could rent inside the store. It was in a giant pyramid.

Thanks again for the info!

I apologize for that

Not a problem.

Although my reply was intended to be humorous, the story about having to be escorted out a side door of the Maine State House by state police after testifying at a hearing is true.

@KATHYMAC68, as another poster stated, lots of aquariums and things to see. It was part of an excursion I took, so it was worth it to see, but I don't know if I would pay just to shop there. Depends on what else you could do in Portland. Although Freeport has many, many stores, not just LL, so one could easily spend hours there walking about.

Thanks Joy! We booked a Lobster boat trip. We get to see the whole process and we can buy a lobster that we catch and they cook it at the Portland Lobster Co.

Sounds like fun…
