Cruisenewbieuk Posted September 22, 2022 #1 Share Posted September 22, 2022 Hello We are on our first cruise and first child free holiday in 15 years! We are visiting Gibraltar on Regal Princess next week. We have been to Gibraltar several times with the children and have done rock tour, cable car, seen the monkeys, dolphin trip and animal sanctuary. Looking for more any recommendations of other attractions or things to do? Thank you in advance
capriccio Posted September 22, 2022 #2 Share Posted September 22, 2022 (edited) Welcome to cruise critic! There is lots of information at your fingertips but it can take a while to figure out how to find it. For port information there is an entire section on the home page entitled Ports of Call with forums and sub-forums by geographical region. Gibraltar is listed under Other Mediterranean Ports: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/149-other-mediterranean-ports/ Additionally, each cruise line has it's own forum for cruise line specific comments and questions. For Princess, see https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/119-princess-cruises/ Enjoy your cruise! Added: if you want to see previous postings about Gibraltar in addition to posting your questions do a search in the upper left corner of the sub-forum for Gibraltar. Sometimes the search function can be iffy but it seems to be working today. Edited September 22, 2022 by capriccio
Rare Essiesmom Posted September 22, 2022 #3 Share Posted September 22, 2022 You also need to become familiar with Roll Calls. The roll call forums here are where people on the same cruise can chat, share ideas, form groups for independent tours. There is a roll call for your Sept. 24 cruise. Last post was yesterday. Some members may already be on the way to Barcelona. But reading the five pages may give you some ideas. EM
Sail1982 Posted September 22, 2022 #4 Share Posted September 22, 2022 Hi Cruisenewbieuk We went last year and was in much the same position as you and knew we wanted to something really different this time. we had a nice lunch at Ocean Village Marina then headed to the Gibraltar Museum in the town center it's quite small but very interesting. We finished off the day with the Gibraltar Gin Experience, it's a small craft gin factory. It's up a quaint little street just of the main high street. We learnt lot of information on Gibraltar the history of gin and got to try 6 different gins and a cocktail at the end. It was a great afternoon we pre booked via trip advisor for those that are more energetic there is also a walking tour that ends with the Gin tasting, but we just went for just the tour! Hope you have a great time :-)
IWantToLiveOverTheSea Posted September 30, 2022 #5 Share Posted September 30, 2022 I got a kick out of walking across the airport runway. And the lighthouse at the southern tip was beautiful to look at. I just took public buses to these places.

There is also the Gibraltar Botanic Gardens, near the lower cablecar stop. Another great idea for a second visit.
