Kids Sail Free question

Recommended Posts

Long story short, but due to Hurricane Ian we had to cancel our cruise that was happening this week (we should be in St Thomas today). Royal is giving us Future Cruise Credit, but we won't have that for 30-45 days from this past weekend.

My kids are currently 10 and 12, but my daughter will be 13 by the time we can take time off for this rebooked cruise.

Which controls for Kids Sail Free, the age as of sailing or the age as of booking?

We had originally booked on KSF and both kids were "kids" per Royal's rules. She'll be an "adult" by the time we cruise, but we'll definitely be booking the replacement cruise before she turns 13.

Just pay attention to the price, not the headline "deal" banner.
Mock book it and watch the bottom line. KSF banner means nothing.

We sail with 2 kids under 12 and the variance in price depending on the day, time of year, prevailing wind direction and what the guy in I.T had for dinner last night is all over the place.

Seriously though, she eats just like a 4-yr-old. This is the girl who will be ordering grilled cheese for dinner every single night. Sigh.

My wife does too.  She doesn’t qualify either.  😂😂

If you kept your original reservation number, then the KSF would still qualify for the KSF.  We had twin daughters booked under the promo, but after a lift-and-switch, our kids were both almost 14 years old.  They still qualified under the KSF promo because we retained the original booking number and booking date.

As soon as YOU cancelled your cruise and are rebooking under a new reservation number, the date of that booking becomes the important date for the age of your children.

Oh man, that stinks. Lift-and-switch wasn't even offered to us as an option, just cancel for Future Cruise Credit.

It actually has nothing to do with keeping the original reservation numbers and even if the op had moved her cruise and kept the same reservation number she would not qualify.

With the lift and shift program they protected the entire booking which included the kids who were free.  That was a one off situation and would not apply to moving a booking in current times.

Lift and shift was s previous program during the pandemic and is no longer offered.

You were actually very fortunate that Royal offered what they did.

It wasn't advertised, but if you called in, it was offered to anyone with sail dates last week or last weekend who found it difficult/impossible to make it to Florida due to Hurricane Ian.

My daughter's skating coach is in the show on Harmony of the Seas, and she says the ship is noticeably empty this week. And the FB group for our sailing has plenty of people who canceled and took FCC.
