RSSC penalizing themselves and us by enriching TAs with 16.5% commission rate

In the U.K. TAs are allowed to discount cruise fares up front rather than having to offer a rebate later.

However, It appears that Regent have now capped the discounts to 5% of commissionable fare; whereas pre-covid it could be as high as 11%

You have to carefully read the exact words in the restriction to be sure.  Several years ago Regent put out a directive in the US seemingly restricting rebates/discounts to 5%.  However in reading the restriction word for word the restriction was "advertising" a more than 5% discount/rebate.

 

At the time questioned my TA who was giving approx. 10% who is on the Regent Board of TA's and he explained this wording and continued with the 10% with no problems because the discount/rebate wasn't advertised and this has continued to the current time..

My TA's company, independently owned with about 20 agents, does not rebate commissions to the client. I wouldn't think of going to someone new for that reason only. Her expertise and hard work are just too important to me.

As several have said, it is certainly possibly to have a TA that offer both great service AND and rebate.
